I dont know how to feel now, i actually feel abandoned which i am sure is stupid. After mastectomy i waited for onco test results which showed that chemotherapy would not do anything for me and had a phone call to collect prescription from hospital pharmacy. Since then ive heard nothing . I have no futther appts which is probably good but i feel as though i have now been left to get on with it. Has anyone else felt like this . A mad few months of tests and the op and now nothing . .

I know I've been lucky really and I've had an easier journey than a lot of people. I feel  guilty even feeling like this.

Sorry for the moan

The prescription was for hormone therapy pills . And my doctor hasn't even received a letter about this .

Oh I do feel for you pisqeak.  We still need support.  Even though my gp is being very good at investigating my ongoing issues I feel abandoned by the hospitals.  Absolutely no one to talk to about hormone tablet issues (hopefully you won't get any - a lot of ladies don't) but someone should have talked to you about them.

Why don't you phone your bcn and have a chat with her?

But one thing you can be sure of you won't be abandoned on this site.  Keep posting and reading and joining in.  It helps enormously xxx

Anne I'm sorry you too feel like this , it just makes me feel like " what am i moaning about" my family have been so supportive but i try not to keep talking about it. I'm sure after all these weeks they have heard enough.   I did phone bcn about a a lump I found on my arm opposite to op . Showed  my GP who didn't think it was anything but said to ask at breast clinic as I haven't another appt I phoned the nurse and she just said oh it won't be anything to do with the operation being on the other side.

I am so far having no problems with tablets touch wood!  I do hope your issues are not too bad. I will be thinking of you

    Hi pipsqueak

That's what this is here for.

It is bad that you go through the whirl wind then get dumped and " definitely not in Kansas!"

This has been refered to before. The system is good and very efficient but there is very little formal support in the afterlife. The trouble is none of us want to make a fuss or make demands so we carry on. That can lead to trouble at a later date.

Your BC nurse will have no doubt said" Ring us if you need anything" Well make sure you do. Family and friends are great so is this site but there are times you need to talk to an expert face to face. So make sure you get help if you need it or just think you need it.

If Boris can promise a train link that is from this century between Yorkshire and Lancashire!!!!!!! he can improve the health service so nobody feels abandoned.

    Hi

please please please ring or email your bc nurse, my skin cancer nurse was an absolute life saver when I had melanoma and that was only in situ! He even came to my home to chat with me.

I so wish I had a bc nurse but unfortunately I don’t so I really do know what it’s like to feel abandoned. Don’t feel like this if you don’t need to, it’s not stupid at all - it’s  entirely normal.

Please let us know how you get on xxx

Silverberg I did ring B.C. nurse but i didn't get anywhere really .  I like to think I'm quite a strong woman but this has taught me my frailties I'm afraid .

I think i saw that flying pig tooJoy

It is actually quite hard to get past the phone call, have phoned twice   and just basically got , no that's fine ,  I was worried about swelling and of course I had no idea how much swelling I should have, what is too much ? How would I know? Don't worry I was told .

Second time  as I explained in an answer above it was also brushed off.   I probably am just panicking  but this didn't help at all,

I will get past this I know but I'm just having a wobble.

Well I'm now off browsing kettles on internet as mine has suddenly started leaking all over the base. That will take my mind off moaning Grinning

Would possibly be worth an email if you have an address. You can sometimes get more of a response as well as explain things better.

Good luck with the kettle hunt too xx

  • It's just a thought, but could you speak to your doctor (or a doctor in the practice) about your concerns?

The consultants are really overworked at my hospital, and already see patients in their lunch hour to fit everyone in.  The Macmillan nurse and breast nurse are usually with the consultants in clinic, so it's a case of them fitting people in between patients in clinic, where they aren't needed in an appointment.

You should have an appointment at some point with your oncologist, then a one year (from when you were originally diagnosed) mammogram and appointment with your surgeon.

    Have fun kettle hunting!
