I am in year 14 months on from a lumpectomy, 10 months on from chemo and 8 months on from radio. I still get pain in my breast that was affected by the cancer. It worries me a lot as I am petrified that it’s a recurrence.

Does anyone else still experience pain?

    Hi

I had first lumpectomy 12 years ago. I had full node removal, cos that was what the did. I told surgeon I had pain in my breast at one of the follow up visits, cos you had those every three months in those days.Doc said

" what's the problem with that your alive"

I called them my video doll lady. The pain was like someone stabbing me with a knitting needle.Doc said it was nerve pain and told me to rub the breast vigorously when it happened. I was a teacher, I'm not sure what the local authority would have said if I'd taken his advice in class. The affect of the roads take longer than we expect to heal too.

However if in doubt go back yo BC nurse. That is what they are there for.

  • my last op was in January 2018

I had 3 ops to get the little blighter Ian out

And here I am still with twinges and ouches

Now at 62 maybe that’s what I should expect ?

    But I think:

    1. It’s a really soft tissue area - the breast

    2. The surgeons probably did some weird manipulatiions

     3. There is some serious scar tissue

    4. My mind is still often in turmoil asking really silly questions it would never have asked if it wasn’t for the simple fact I got breast cancer

Breathe and if the aches pains become too much seek help

Leolady56 still standing and popping by

Life is like a boxing match, defeat is declared not when you fall ..... But when you refuse to stand up again ....... So, I get knocked down but I get up again. x
