I had a mastectomy 4 weeks ago and am still in some pain.

Sometimes I have to take pain killers. Most of my stitches are still there and don’t know how long they should be there. Still hurts to raise my arm, is puffy around the scare and is tender to touch. Is this right? Only heard from my breast nurse once since my op, don’t know what to do.

    Morning

Please don't regard painkillers as a bad thing. By taking them you have greater movement in the arm which is what you need to heal well. Keeping still cos it hurts is not the way to go.

Ring BC nurse. I think they work on the principal" no news is good news" if you have any doubts or worries ring. That's what they are there for.

Ring in the morning and then you'll feel better

  • Hi

i had mastectomy and reconstruction - no visible stitches . I asked for a district nurse to check me , they were only to happy to do this for me . I’m 35 miles from hospital . Definitely phone Breast care nurse or see your practice nurse .

I was never in pain , so please seek help and advise.

    Take care
