3 weeks since mastectomy and sentinel nodes removed , after initially not having a lot of pain underneath my left arm and armpit im getting a lot of low grade pain. Not very bad but annoying. Is this usual? I still have some swelling too. I've tried cold bag and a hot cushion. Heat seems to help more

Hi Pisqueak welcome to the forum and that does sound annoying.
I imagine that this is bruising inside which you cant see and also nerves beginning to regenerate as part of the healing process.
That said it could also be the start of a seroma under your arm so if it gets any worse then a trip to your GP to get it checked out would be in order.
Sending some gentle hugs your way for now. xxxxx
Hi Pipsqeak
week gone Thursday for my right side mastectomy and sentinel node I also have been getting very low grade pain back of upper arm .
when I had dressing removed I automatically rubbed it . My BC nurse ask and said just keep an eye on it she didn't seem too concerned so think it usual . I intend asking when's I go for review / results on Tuesday . But will follow this post in the hopes it clarifies things for you and therefore me .
Hope you feeling good apart from this niggle as I call mine .
Hope answer comes up for you
love and hugs
xoxo
Strange isn't it ? I was surprised how little pain I had at first. I didn't have a dressing on mine at all! It wa s a shock when I first looked after op ! I was expecting a dressing but it was glued !

There were 3 of us in same room ,which was great as we could share and care . All of us had dressings not too bad getting it removed drain gave more pain.
Yes we all expected more pain but I had be told by my nurse that discomfort more than pain . Myself and a another got the sudden nerve pains which were a bit lethal very sudden then gone again .
Worse for me was the drain on the last two days felt like it was moving so I ended looking like I was supporting a boob that had gone .
But all in all not too bad compared to what you think . Lucky enough we all had same weird humour so we had a relaxed stay . I had op on Thursday was offered home on Friday but declined wouldn't have had support in place . Hubby 73 and has RA so I knew he would cope very well . They had no problem with that and I wasn't discharged until drain came out on Tuesday .
Just waiting now for results .
take care and you're right get your nurse involved
xoxo
