Hi . I had a mastectomy on the 4th June, I am having
Trouble with a infection on my wound just under the arm. Also lots of fluid build up over night. . Does anyone know of things I can do to clear it up. I have used manuka honey which seemed to be working really well until this hot sticky weekend . It can't be dressed with dressings etc because at 55 I have discovered I am allergic to any plasters or dressings. Haha .keep smiling xx thanks in antisipation
Hi NelllH64
Hope this helps. I had a build up of fluid in my breast after my drain was removed. This resulted in the fluid escaping via a tiny hole in the main breast scar. My oncologist basically pressed the fluid out and re stitched and glued the scar back up. He also prescribed Fusidic acid 2% cream - 30 gram to help stop an infection. It is an antibiotic cream so maybe you could get your GP to prescribe . If it were me I would definitely contact the breast care team or you GP. You don't want the infection getting any worse.
regards
El
Hi @ NelllH64
When you say you are allergic to all plasters and dressings...has this been explored fully? There are a number of dressings and tapes... some designed for specialist jobs like burns among which there may be something you can tolerate.
I have this issue although 'cheap' everyday plasters don't give me a problem! Mepilex I tend to tolerate.
Cheers
