Hi everyone my sister was diagnosed with breast cancer last year which also spread to her liver. The treatment she was on had started to work but then she became pregnant which as most of you may know isn’t meant to happen. She went a head with the pregnancy which made the cancer worse. After giving birth 3 months ago she has been back on chemo but it’s not working and the cancer is spreading. They will not put her back on the treatment that was working because she had the baby. Has anyone had similar issues?

I'm not sure I can help at all but have you tried PALS, the hospital patient liaison service?

I can have a dig around but I'll need a bit more information as that will dictate which drugs might be available.

What type of breast cancer? If it's Her2+++ then she may have been on the pertuzumab, trastuzumab combination which has strict controls on it.

Which area health authority do you come under, it does sometimes make a difference.

Hi Carolyn thank you so much for your reply. I will check with my sister and get back to you. The treatment she was in she was getting funding but because she had a baby they won’t fund her for that treatment xxx
