    Hi JackG

I put on weight whilst on Tamoxifen even though i walk everywhere and dont tend to eat large portions. In January i went to slimming world and by April had lost the 1.5 stone that i had put on. The problem was what i was eating! SW is based on a low fat/ low sugar approach so its a healthy diet. The added bonus was. Huge reduction in hot flushes but whether this is weight or diet related i dont know. I feel so much better, best decision ever.

Hi Jack G. I feel the same as you. Lost over 4 stone before being diagnosed with bc just before Christmas. Felt sorry for myself after op and radiotherapy so ate anything in sight. Have been trying since Feb doing sw to lose weight i have put on but like you seem to lose a pound and then put it back on. Have been swimming walking and going to gym twice weekly so really trying but no luck. I am on anastrazole which bc nurse  said might be the reason and evening primrose oil for hot flushes which are horrendous. I have decided to keep trying but at least I went for mammogram and they found the lump. Could be worse. Big hugs xx

  • - I've really struggled with weight gain post treatment. And I'm not on Tamoxifen or AI's, in fact am back on HRT. Not something I've ever had a problem with.

It turned out to be underactive thyroid - been rumbling for years and ignored by GPs until now. As it happens, RT wiped out the left half of my thyroid, which pushed the bloods into abnormal range. Been on thyroxine for about 4 months now, and have stopped gaining. Now to get it off.......

So it's worth getting a full range of bloods done. Make sure they include the full thyroid panel, as well as VitD, Folic, B12 and so on.

    Hugs xx
