Saw the oncologist today and they've decided I'm having doxacetol. Despite my concerns.
Not looking forward to Tuesday. In fact really scared if I'm honest. Told I'm on triple stetiods and gabapentin to control the neuropathic pain.
FEC I coped with. This I'm terrified of.
Hopefully it won't be as bad as I fear. Just wish I had people near me.
Please don’t be terrified! I have done FEC- T....and yes the T is tough....actually I found the first one easier than FEC...more energy but it did get more tricky and my legs ached a lot. I spoke to my chemo nurses and they sorted out some stronger co-codomol and , my gosh, did that work a treat - less pain and it helped me sleep!. I also used epsom salts /lavender baths which even if it didn’t help made me smell nice! Yes, I did feel fatigued and battered by the end. But it doesn’t take long to start to feel a bit more you. 5 months on I am out and about, getting my fitness back and feeling stronger. Oh and my hair almost looks like it could be a trendy pixie style.....
Good luck, be kind to yourself...there is light at the end of the tunnel!
An oncology nurse friend of mine gave me the tip to take my gabapentin prophylactically for the first few days after the chemo, even if I wasn’t getting limb pains. I took her advice and was never bothered with pain. Maybe I would have been lucky anyway but it was one less thing to worry about. You will cope. Xx
