Hi all,

I had a full hysterectomy 4 weeks ago where they found a 20cm cyst on right ovary, 5cm on left, cells in the omentum and 2 affected lymph nodes. I suspected it was ovarian cancer from the start so the results didn't surprise me. I've been recovering well but on Wednesday I found a lump in my breast.

I've been to the dr who is going to do a 2 week referral to the Brest clinic. I have to say that this has been the biggest blow so far. I'm due to see the oncologist on 12th of June. As everyone says, the waiting is excruciating!

I had posted on the ovarian cancer group where someone kindly suggested writing on here.

Has anyone else experienced this?

Thanks TT xxx

  • Hi ,I have no experience of what you are going through, but mustvsaybtbat you are dealing with it so well. You won't kniw anything concrete until yiu have had all the breast investigations, It might not be cancer. If it is, treatment is improving all the time, and there are a lot if regimes available. Again if it is, they will, probably want todo some genetic tests,

I had breast cancer 10 years ago, both sides, with lymph node spread, and I am in remission still. I also had bowel cancer 2 years ago and have had the 2 year all, clear.  It is very doable, though frightening and horrible to face it again. Ididn't fir a long time (see my profile)but got ther in the end,

Big hugs and lots of luck xxxxxxx

Onwards and flatwards (don't do hills) and keep walking if you can!

  • Thank you for your response Seaspirit, wow you've had a bumpy old ride but it sounds like you're in a great place now. I hope you're enjoying every minute of it. You deserve it xxx

    Hi Tania,

If you do not get a referral before you see your onco I would definitely show the lump to her/him.  A lot of Ovarian onco clinicians also deal with breast cancer as often the two can be linked.  In fact I personally would insist while you are there they give you a mammogram and or an ultrasound scan if that’s available at your hospital.   Hopefully it will be nothing at all but with your family history I am sure you being extra vigilant will catch anything early.

I also would say you may wish to see a genetic counsellor too.

Keep up the good spirits, you will beat this.  Good thoughts and wishes xx

  • Thank S,

I will be popping my baps out at anyone who may be in the know! Lol I will definitely tell the oncologist, I just wish the appointment would come sooner!

I have been told that I will be having genetic testing, with two blood daughters, a granddaughter on the way and a niece I'm more worried about them, but I'm a firm believer that stress and worry don't change the outcome so don't waste the energy (easier said than done but I try not to dwell)

Thanks again for the advice, I'm very grateful TT xxx
