hello everyone
I switched just over 2 months ago from letrozole to anastrozole and initially no side effects. However, for the past 2-3 weeks I experienced back ache which has increasingly gotten worse, especially at night. Anyone else had this on this drug? With letrozole I had terrible bone, muscle and joint pain. This seems much more concentrated and I feel my spine being compressed. I am also on bisphosphonates every 6 months.
thanks, GC
I really strongly suggest you give your team a call or the BC nurse
My BC. nurse impressed on me to contact her should I get back pain. Please that’s not to worry you but to emphasise to get medical help

Hi Ginacaria, I had a lumpectomy in July 2017 and started on Letrozole. For the 1st year, I had no trouble at all so I thought it was going to be great for 5 years..Wrong! I started having joint pains everywhere. Luckily all my joint pains didn't happen all at once, one day it was knees, next it was ankle and hip pains, etc. It was as though I was on a roundabout. I eventually saw my oncologist and she changed my medication to Anastrozole hoping it would be better. I have been on this for 6 weeks and so far, I have different problems. I am having pains and tenderness in my ribs, on and off. Shoulder pains going to right elbow, more back ache. I am due my 2nd mammogram in June with a follow up appointment with my oncologist, so I shall see if there is something else to try. These things are sent to try us!
Keep smiling, there isn't much else to do.

hello
it seems you and me are quite similar. my SE fee period was about 3 months on letrozile, and just a few weeks on Anstrazole... I never really suffered from back ache before so it comes as a shock to experience it every day, especially at night.
I have contacted my GP and she offered me a CT scan, but I will also check with my BC nurse, as already suggested.
Hopefully there is nothing sinister going on, but better playing it safe.
I had my sugery last year February and all went well, but now and again it does give me panic attacks of it coming back....
take care!
GC
Afternoon Ginacaria, it's nice to know that we aren't the only ones bothered by these tablets, its a pity we're not connected by something nice instead.. we can battle on together and see the light at the end of the tunnel (pardon the old cliche). I hope you get the result you want, I'm positive you will x
Take care and all best wishes

Hi Ginacarla,
Your post has made me think, because I have had shoulder blade pain (same side as Mastectomy) and spine for couple of weeks, worse at night, which has made me wonder could it be connected to BC/mastectomy, I'm on Femara. Let us know the outcome please.
Being safe rather than sorry is a mightily good plan
Our mental and emotional health is just as much as a priority So if whatever scan is on offer placates that gremlin .... then do be it
And yes it’s sad we have this BC and medication to link us all together . But even more importantly we have here
hugs
