has anybody had more than 1 lump found ? i thought i had one , but after screening , it was found i had 4 , one bigger than the other than 2 small ones at the back , does this mean i more at risk , im scared .....

  • Hi ,

I don't think having a number of lumps is necessarily more at risk although obviously 1 would have been infinitely nicer!

It depends on the size and the grade and type of the lumps and even if they are cancerous or not. It could be a cyst or 3 joining in.

I hope I can give a little reassurance  - I had a 15mm lump grade 2 ER and PR+ and then 2 separate areas totaling 54mm of DCIS (not lumps but precancerous cells) grade 3, ER and PR negative. Quite unusual to have 2 different types of cancer/precancer. I had my lumpectomy on a Wednesday had that day and the Thursday off work and was back working on Friday,  I didn't need chemo due to ER+ for the cancerous lump and it hadn't spread to my sentinel lymph nodes and the surgeon got clear margins. I had radiotherapy and drove myself daily for the 15 sessions and worked as well without any hassle.

Yesterday I received a phone call from my breast care nurse from my 2nd year anniversary mammogram to confirm that my mammogram was perfectly normal.

I struggled with the worry of it all at the start and I take a tablet every day to prevent reoccurrence and after each mammogram I see it as another year where I can forget about worrying.

I think the worst thing at diagnosis is the worry and what it's  - if you can try and control your fear (so much easier said than done I did know!) Then the journey isn't always as bad as the fear. Try and take each step as it comes and face each 'battle's as it arrives.

    Kindest wishes,

    Hi Blhope,

I had two lumps when diagnosed in Sept 2016, Mutifocal, I think they called it., 2cm and 1.5cm Triple Negative. I thought 2 must be worse than one, but both the surgeon and Oncologist didn't seem that concerned, I was told they take the measurement from largest lump to work out staging, my lumps were close together, I'm not sure if they are further apart. I was stage one.

Sept 2016 had SLNB - No lymph nodes involved

Oct 2016 had Lumpectomy - clear margins

Nov 2016 - started Chemo 6 cycles every 3 weeks

    March 2017 - 3 weeks of Radiotherapy

I have had 2 clear mammograms and am currently having Zoledronic Acid infusions to help prevent bone Mets.

I know it is worrying when we find lump/s but once you know what your plan is, you will be able to deal with it better. Let me know if I can be of any help.

    Best wishes Cherry blossom
