Dear ,
Sorry you find yourself here, with all of us that didn't want to be here too.
I am not sure if I am answering your question correctly, it is my thoughts and I hope this sounds right and will help you.
I too had lumpectomy and the day before my operation I had ta radioactive substance (think we know it as a 'blue dye') injected near to the tumor, they do this to locate the sentinel node for the biopsy to be performed. I had the injection the day before my operation - then the biopsy and lumpectomy were carried out at the same time. I have read that other surgeons perform this operation seperately.
How is a Sentinel Node Biopsy Performed?
To locate the sentinel nodes, a labelling substance, either a radioactive tracer, blue dye, or both, is injected into the area around the tumor before a mastectomy or lumpectomy is performed. The tracer travels the same path to the lymph nodes that the cancer cells would take.
I hope this is helps you.
Sending love and hugs xxx
Thank you so much iam in on thursday for that then surgery on Friday take care xx
