Are there any places in the London area similar to the Judy Plume shop recommended in Glasgow? I think that I'll be starting chemo after my lymph node surgery heals a bit, and would like to be prepared before the tiredness.sickness kicks in.
Can I also ask what people do at the pool? I'd like to try and swim when possible, but I'm finding it hard to find a nice swimsuit as well as don't know if I want a bald head at the pool look for summer:) Are there any swim wigs, or swim hats with fringe etc?
Thanks in advance....
Hi Londonmumof2 I was diagnosed almost 6 years ago and was living in London at the time. I found a lovely shop called Trendco who you will find at 64 Westbourne Grove, London. It’s just off of Nottinghill. The staff in there at the time were amazing. I had booked an appointment and the lady I saw was kind and patient, nothing was too much trouble.
I believe they even run support groups for people who are dealing with hair loss for whatever reason. They had a great selection of wigs and were full of advice. So might be worth a look. But like I said it was 6years ago that I used them!
Just one other thought, you might want to check with your Oncologist about swimming in a public pool while on Chemo! I know I recall mine saying best to avoid them especially on the week that your immune system will be at its lowest! But maybe the current view is different!
Hope that helps and good luck with the wig fitting and your upcoming treatment. Take Care. Sal xxx
Thanks everyone. I'll make an appointment at Trendco once its certain I'm having chemo, as I'd like to try them on and get some help.
I'll be on 3-week cycles of EC for the first 3 months and wondered about the third week of each cycle. My local pool also has a lido, so the idea is that I'd go but in the indoor pool which is almost deserted in the summer! I wanted to swim because it's a good exercise I for anyone at risk of lymphodema, but will check. I'm abandoning a 12 day holiday in Majorca because of treatment so feeling a bit sorry for myself!
