New to this site having been recently diagnosed with TNBC at the age of 43. Treatment plan is chemotherapy - surgery - radiotherapy. Started first of 3 EC chemotherapy cycles yesterday, which will be followed by 9 weeks of paclitaxel and carboplatin. I was so anxious yesterday but it went smoothly enough. So far I haven't felt much different to normal. Felt a bit sickly but nothing really, anti-sickness tablets probably doing their thing. Had an hours sleep this afternoon, which I wouldn't usually do but had a busy morning out shopping and not had the best sleep recently. I'm waiting to feel really rubbish, the nurses told me some people sail through it, could it not be as bad I was fearing or is this just the calm before the storm?

Greetings new friend . I was told that if you are not I'll within the first 12 hours then you probably won't be and that the 1st usually gets the pattern

Hi, that sounds promising. I'm with you on the mind over matter, trying to stay positive and feeling well in my head.

    Hi B3cky

My niece (aged 35) and I were both diagnosed with breast cancer last year. September and November. I was lucky and my treatment was a mastectomy. My niece's treatment was the same as yours. She is just on her last week of radiotherapy. I have to say if you didn't know what was going on you wouldn't have known that she was having all this treatment. There were days when she was very tired and you just have to listen to your body. Rest when you need to and carry on a normal if you can. Of course everyone is different.

I hope you remain well and are able to carry on as normal. Her words throughout her treatment was it all doable. These are words that a lot of the ladies say on here.

    all the best.

  • Hiya ,

I had 3 lots of fec chemo (that's ec plus another drug) in 2017. I sailed through fec, no problems whatsoever -apart from hair loss! So fingers crossed for you.

hello and welcome to the community none of us want to me part of but under the circumstances its the best place to be.

I was diagnosed with TNBC last year at the age of 47. I had FEC-T chemo, followed by surgery and just waiting to start radiotherapy. The good news is that i no longer have cancer. I got anxious a couple of times, in fact once i told my daughter i wasn't going, she told me to stop being silly and get in the car lol

I will say if you feel tired have a sleep in the afternoon, chemo did make me tired, make sure you get the rest you need, look after you.

As for the calm before the storm just take each day as it comes, i hope you continue to feel well.

Thank you TheScriptFan for your welcome. I am pleased for you that it has gone well. My tumour is only measuring 16mm x12mm and no evidence of any lymph nodes from scans. I really just wanted it out. They could have just removed but because it's grade 3 TBNC apparently NACT is linked to better outcomes. All very scary but going with what is recommended. Still feeling well today and been out to the garden centre. As your say one day at a time.
