Hi everyone,
I am scheduled to have lipofilling next week and I wanted to know what to expect in terms of pain and how long am I looking for recovery. My plastic surgeon has already warned me that it is painful and will be taking fat from my back and thighs. He said the slimmer you are the more painful it is and I am quite lean.
Also, it would be great to hear as well when I can realistically start exercising, but Im not quite sure how that will work out with the cycling shorts/corset. Any advice on what to buy and where from would be a great help as well.
Many thanks!

Hi
I'm not a member of this group but I noticed that your post hadn't had any responses. By replying to you it will push your post back to the top of the page where it may be seen by someone who can help you.
While you're waiting you could try typing 'lipofilling' into the search facility in this group to see if there are any previous posts on this subject. Another alternative would be to post your question in ask a nurse and one of the specialist cancer nurses will aim to respond within 2 working days.
It's good that you want to start exercising as soon as possible and I'd suggest that you post this question in ask a physio where volunteer physiotherapist Hannah will reply to you.
I hope everything goes well for you this week.

I have had it. Mine was quite painful. I had to ask for extra pain relief in recovery. I could hardly walk which took me by surprise. They gave me some morphine but still bad but as I was in day surgery and wanted to go home they said they couldn’t give me as much as if I had been staying in overnight. To leave I could hardly walk which took me by surprise and I’ve had a diep so a veteran of such things!! Once home it was better and just used ordinary pain killers and then it settled down fairly quickly. The bruising is significant and goes all colours of the rainbow!! Support underwear or supportive active wear is essential. I felt awful the first day as if I had been kicked by a horse all over but then it gets better very quickly. It is very effective and worth the discomfort.
Hi again,
Sorry, I meant to mention - You need compression underwear to help with the swelling which you need to wear 24/7 for 6 weeks. I used the support grade knickers that I wore after my diep and used a compression bra. If you are like me you will have quite a lot of painful bruising. I didn't drive for 2 weeks and even after that it hurt to twist to get into the car so you won't be able to exercise until the bruising has gone. I had no fat on my tummy (had a diep!!!) so they took it from top of legs and side. But, it's only bruising so it will just be when that feels a bit better. I have a really comfortable compression post surgery bra - Marena Recovery you can buy them on the internet. It is quite firm with velcro on the straps and hooks and eyes at the front. I have a black one and it looked more like I was wearing a sports top than a bra. It is much more comfortable than the ones I had previously bought in M&S.
I also meant to say that I was booked in to stay the night when I had my lipo modelling but i was quite adamant i wasn't going to stay and Im pretty OK with anaesthetic so was allowed to go home pretty quickly, although in a bit of pain!!! Good luck
