Hi,

I was diagnosed yesterday with invasive ductal cancer. I think they said it was stage 2, but I'm wondering if it was grade 2 instead. When do you get the stage diagnosis, is it after the tumour is removed?

  • Hi

sorry you have joined ‘the club’ x

i was firstly informed that mine was grade 1 after the initial biopsy  then when they had more results i was told the hormone and her2 status that took a few more days.  After the surgery to remove the lump they just reconfirmed that the initial biopsy results also matched the results from the surgery.

I also got confused with grades and stages!

    xx

Hi, first post here for me, similar here I was diagnosed yesterday - invasive ductal cancer, grade 3 (as the cells are quite active). I have a further appt next week for HER results.

It's crap isn't it? Feeling a bit shaky today. I haven't been given an appt. for my HER results, but from reading up, I know it's important so will ring the nurse on Monday. Were you given a stage or just a grade? x

    Hi and

Welcome to the group no one wants to join, but it is the best group to be in under the circumstances.

My consultant was reluctant to tell me the grade and stage of my BC as he said people then go away and google and get the wrong information. So maybe ring your breast care nurse and ask them to explain it to you.

Try to avoid google as the information is out of date or incorrect. I was 7 months into treatment when i decided not to take my own advice and googled and it scared me half to death. So avoid it and ask questions in here. There is always someone around who has been where you are or going through the same as you.

Try to take it one step at a time, the waiting around is the worse part but once you have a treatment plan it seems so much easier to cope with.

Please come and shout, rant, cry and on occasion we have been known to have a bit of a giggle too. Talking to people who get you really helps. It definitely made it so much easier for me.

    we're a friendly bunch :O)

I love the Script,  pretty sure I saw them at the Isle of Wight festival last year :-) Today has been hard, had the conversation with my 2 youngest, 16 and 15 and though I was very upbeat and positive I know I have put a weight on their shoulders. My eldest is serving overseas and I don't know whether to tell him or wait til he's home later this year. I also have essential thrombocythaemia,  a rare form of blood cancer, which I've been living with for at least the last 7 years, so this is a heavy blow. Good luck to us all xx
