Hi All
I am having a specauclary horrid day which I won't bore you with...but I am on blood thinning injections for next 5 weeks as I have blood clots in my arm. Today I had my first zoladex implant injection and boy did it hurt going in. I then bled quite a bit at the injection site which the nurse said wasn't normal so she checked with Dr and she came back and said it was fine. However I have had to lie down for the rest of the day and am still in bed flat on my back because when I sit up I can feel the lump in my stomach and it is really painful, walking also hurts. I couldn't even put a cup in the dishwasher as I was crying with pain. Now is this normal or something else? I am wondering if the blood thinning stomach injections and the zoladex are arguing?!!
I don't think I can cope with this every month for next 5 years as I.will end up being off sick each month
To be honest I am not sure I can do any more treatment anymore. Today I am.broken and it's all too much
Help!!
Hi , how are you feeling this morning? I think the simple answer is NO it shouldn’t be this painful! Yes the injection is uncomfortable and yes it might hurt quite a bit but the pain should die down almost immediately! As for the bleeding, if the nurse has nicked a vein, that can cause a fair bit of bleeding which would of been made worse by the blood thinning drugs you are on!
If you are still feeling rough today I would go and get checked out. I am obviously no doctor but I have been having these injections for the last 3years every 3wks so I feel I am experienced enough to say that this isn’t the norm!
You can get a cream that will numb the area before you have the injection! I have never bothered as my nurse has been great and my injections only hurt for a split second! A couple have stung a bit and one did cause a rather large bruise!! But on the whole it’s fine!
So please don’t be put off after this one bad experience! It could be the nurse hasn’t done many of these injections and hasn’t done it quite as well as someone whose more experienced. But like I said if you are still feeling rough, please get checked out! Sal xxxx
Thanks LondonLass for your reassuring words, i really do appreciate it. Today I am a bit sore in my stomach but I can sit down ok today and don't feel / can't feel what felt like a lump in my stomach today. Thank goodness! Good tip about the numbing cream I think I will get some from nurse for next time. She warned me it was a big needle and said she was going for it (ie. Doing the injection quickly).
I think if i experience this when I am not on the blood thinning injections then I will have to speak to the nurse / oncologist but keeping everything crossed
Thanks once again xxxx
