I've just had auxillia (armpit) surgery.  I'm wondering how long I will need to wait before I can start running  again.  Any other runners out there with any advice.  Many thanks

  • Hi

I'm not a runner, but I wonder if you could ring your breast care nurse?  I suspect what the advice would be is 'listen to your own body'.  If you feel it hurts - stop!  I had an 80mm lumpectomy and sentinel nodes removed on the Wednesday and I was back working on the Friday.  Other ladies haven't been so lucky as I and it took them a lot longer to get over surgery, so a lot is down to the individual and how your body can cope with the surgery.

That said, just to be sure - I would ring your BC nurse.

    Best wishes,
