Hello I am new to the groups, but I need some advice.
I had stage 3C hormone positive lobular breast cancer 8 years ago.
I am now getting very sore ribs, at the sides but also at the back.
I’m petrified that it’s bone cancer and I don’t know what to do. I have also got post mastectomy pain syndrome, so I don’t know if that is connected?
Any advice would be very much appreciated!
Hi Bonnie1978 welcome to the forum and so sorry to hear about how worried that you are.
This could be connected to the post mastectomy pain syndrome but the best thing to do is to make an appointment with the GP and get this looked into for you.
This could be absolutely anything but I Do understand the fear that this may be something more than just normal rib pain. I think we all have that fear and I'm not sure that it ever truly leaves is but most of the time these things are totally unconnected and turn out to be nothing to worry about hence why I think a trip to the GP to get some medical advice would be worth ti if even just to put your mind at rest.
Please come back and let us know how you get on and Im sure some hugs wouldn't go amiss so sending some huge big hugs your way for now. xxxx.
Hello there. Did you have radiotherapy? This can cause bone pain for years after treatment. I am 11 years post diagnosis and had pain under my arm and in my back
I rang the Breast Unit and the BCN told me to go to the GP and get a 2 week referral. I did this and saw the Consultant who arranged a bone scan Luckily all was fine.
The Breast unit will always talk to you even if you have been discharged from the clinic.
All the very best.

hello Bonnie,
Just taking the chance to reassure you.
I had double mastectomy, radiotherapy etc.last year then told just to take Letrozole as I was all clear, at least for a time. So should have felt less worried. But I was seeing double when tired..two cars instead of one if I tried to drive ..and terrified it might be a brain tumor. Saw an optician who could find nothing wrong and my G.P said he thought it was caused by tiredeness anxiety and stress but, to be sure, he arranged a brain scan. it came back as all clear...so we had a lovely Christmas instead of all the family being worried.
So it is a good example of why it is worth seeing a GP or oncologist when concerned. There are loads of other reasons why we have pain but because we are cancer patients it is very difficult to stay rational.( I was spooked because a hairdresser told me that breast cancer always went upwards (not true) but it added to my dread ) .
My advice would be to see a doctor, and with all my heart I wish you well.
