I had the ct department on the phone from the hospital saying I was due a ct scan next month and could I travel to another hospital to have it done, I told them not possible, they said they would leave it with my local hospital. I phoned my bcn to find out what the ct scan was for, it turns out during chemo they had found non specific modules on my lungs, the team had decided it was nothing to worry about and shouldn’t be followed up, bcn nurse had to go back through my notes from last year, at the MDT meeting in june last year it was discussed that I should have a follow up ct scan done in a year as I only had a partial response to chemo before surgery, I smoked through my treatment now I have been stopped for nearly 6 months, my bcn is telling me not to worry as she isn’t worried, but I can’t help worrying as only had a partial response to chemo. Has anybody else had this experience.
Hi Zaf37 I am so sorry to hear how worried that you are and no wonder. That's awful though that you are just finding out about this I would have thought that if there had been anything good or bad they should have at least informed you off this and then it wouldn't have come as such a shock for you.
I haven't had this experience because that sounds awful for you.
Hopefully some of the other lovely folks on here will pop in and maybe add to what I have said.
If t was me I would be telling them that how this has happened for you is not ok and you should be kept informed at all times after all its your body not theirs.
Sending some huge big hugs your way meantime. xxxx
Hi zaf37,
I had CT scan of my chest area due to a persistent cough, it showed a ground glass nodule on the Lung, so it has been scanned at 3 months and 6 months and will be scanned again at 12 and 18 months, although they have said it is nothing to worry about, it hadn't changed at all between scans and I hope this continues to be the case. They said to me it is Protocol to rescan if anything like a Nodule shows up just to be sure, they also said it is not unusual to find nodules that are quite harmless when they scan. It is very worrying particularly as you knew nothing about it until the telephone call but hopefully it will be harmless. Hope all goes well for you.
Best Wishes.
Thanks for you’re reply peterawake, I smoked during my treatment as they said it would be too stressful for me to stop, now that my treatment is over i stopped smoking coming up for 6 months now, my bcn nurse said at the time the nodules showed up it was nothing to worry about as they said treatment would of been stopped, I’ve had no cough since they showed up on ct scan, I am hoping they have not changed in size since last year as don’t think I could handle any more bad news as I’m trying to get a life back after cancer.
Thanks for the reply granny59, I’m trying not to worry as don’t think I could take any more bad news, hopefully it will be nothing.
