hiya im new to the site
i had a lumpectomy in june 2017,had chemo and finished my radiation in february 2018 . could anyone tell me should my breast still be hot, tender to touch and ache . thank you xx
Hi bunnys welcome to the forum and well done for getting through all the gruelling treatment.
Aches sound ok as they can go on for some time after treatment but feeling hot to the touch and tender would make me wonder if you have an infection and I would be tempted to make a a GP appointment and get this checked out asap. It may need an antibiotic so go see your GP.
Please do come back and let us know how you get on.
Sending some huge big hugs your way meantime. xxx
Hi
As GRANNY59 says do get it checked out - you can also get in touch with your BC nurse in case you have to wait ages for appointments with your doctor and the BC nurse will have seen a lot more.
If it's any help to prevent you worrying in the meantime, it might actually be nothing -but that doesn't take away from getting it checked out! I didn't have chemo and only had 3 sentinel lymph nodes removed. I finished radiotherapy in October 2017. For the first time in October 2018 my breast didn't swell and look red/ hurt in the evening after I had lifted something heavier than a 1kg. This really surprised me how long it took to 'get back to normal' - a whole year! when breaking a bone is all done and dusted in 6 weeks. I can now happily lift my shopping etc and carry on as normal although sometimes in the mornings it can look a bit red from where I've slept on it. (I had over 80mm cut out of mine which might be why it took so long), so as said before if you have any concerns don't hesitate to contact your BC nurse/doctor.
