Hi everybody,

Looking for a little advice, I am about to go and get a wig but Ive found there are quite a few places in Glasgow. It's just to see if there is anybody else on here with recommendations/ personal preferences for wig shops in Glasgow. Would like to get my wig before I lose my hair so that I can get used to it.

  • Hi sorry I’m not in Glasgow , I’m in Dundee , I just went to nearest , took a friend tried on wigs and laid one aside . Went back a few days later alone and got a completely different one that I felt happiest in . I liked the staff and I liked the selection and that was it . I thought I would answer your question to move you up the page .

Yes it’s a good idea to wear your wig before you need it , then you will see that NO ONE. Stares at you , then when / if you loose your hair you won’t be so self conscious.

    Wishing you well

    love

  • Hi

I went to my own hairdresser Alan Edwards in Wilson Street. I had to pay for it as a I wanted a real hair wig.  They got one that was the same as my own hair and cut it to suit me.

Parruche Wigs in Virginia Street was recommended but I felt so self conscious that I decided to go somewhere I knew.

They were amazing and really helped me to feel at ease.

My hair just thinned and I didn’t need the wig though my hair is now very short.

    Good luck!

    Jac

Thanks for replying, I don't feel self conscious at the moment, but I think this will come - at the moment it just feels completely surreal. I feel well, have a head of thick highlighted hair but know I need to get a wig now as in a few weeks I won't have hair. I'll try and get an appt with Parruche wigs then maybe and sandwich in between the lunch I have planned with friends - lunch at Atlantic brasserie before chemo takes over and I can't taste the same.

Onwards and upwards - and again thanks for your reply
