Hi All,

Just wondering if anyone has received a pay out recently.

I had totally forgot I started the policy back in 2004. I was recently tidying our loft bedroom (empty since eldest DD went to Uni yrs ago) and moved away from home. Anyway found the policy, so put in a claim back in January, my forms are now with Reassure, they were waiting on the medical form from the Dr.

My oncologists secretary phoned yesterday to say he’s filled it in and she was posting it yesterday.

Fingers crossed.

  • Hi I had critical illness cover with Aviva that also covered breast cancer. that paid out. I wasnt sure it would as I didn't have chemotherapy but they said it wasnt the treatment but the diagnosis that counted. Sorted easily between them and breast care nurse

  • Thank you for your reply. Yes I think this form just asked for biopsy report and anytime time spent in hospital as you get £100 a night as well.

    Will wait and see.

    Glad you got yours sorted.

  • I got confirmation today I get everything I was entitled too. Can’t actually believe it.

    Hello,

What is it you are talking about? I have triple negative breast cancer so could do with some kind of insurance in case i have a recurrence as i am struggling financially now i have gone down to half pay at work. I know i wouldn't be able to make a claim this time but want to be prepared in case there is another time xxx

, I think they all had insurance policies with critical care cover before cancer. I stupidly thought I was too young to worry about policies likes that (couldn't have afforded it anyway). I doubt we will get insurance cover now and imagine you have to be clear of cancer for a number of years before anyone will accept you. I am also on reduced pay and things are very very tight!

it stinks doesn’t it? as if we don’t have enough to worry about.

I guess no one ever thinks they’ll be the one in our position I know i never did xx

    thanks for your response xxx

  • Hi

Sorry, Yes the insurance policy was something I took out years ago, well over a decade, I think it came about through my job at the time. It’s still worth looking into, I presume the premiums will be higher but I just think we insure everything else and maybe never claim but with the odds nowadays of cancer effecting us it’s got to be worth at least a bit of time researching x x

, yes it is a bit poop but I can also see it from insurance companies point of view. If you do manage to find a company that will cover you now do let me know! It may be that you can get cover for everything else but not cancer!!

Sorry, meant to add that I found this website and its very helpful. Looks like you have to wait 2 years  but in some circumstances you may only have to wait 12 months depending on circumstances
