I've been taking Letrozol since November and have had no problems. Then over the weekend a bout of Cystitis! I bought some Cystopurin from the chemist and thankfully symptoms are greatly improved but is this a side effect that anyone has on a regular basis? I've only ever had it once in my life so I knew what it was
Yes, with a veangance last night!
sadly I’m a fairly regular victim anyway, being well over that certain age, and my GP is happy to prescribe some antibios as he knows I will only use when needed, fortunately they were to hand (I’m away on a short holiday)
Gallons of water later, must have got up as soon as I got in bed loads of times but by 3am it had settled and I got a few hours sleep.
memo to self, ask for a further supply!
hope yours eases very soon

Hi youngat heart,
Sadly, this is a regular occurrence for me since the menopause and seems more frequent now, I was on Letrozole, changed to Femara 2 weeks ago. I was told as your Oestrogen levels drop the bladder and urethra become more sensitive , this can lead to bladder inflammation ie Cystitis. Advised me to drink 2 litres of water each day to try and prevent urine becoming too concentrated, it will also dilute any bacteria. I find Cystopurin quite good and always have some in stock! If it doesn't clear up within 5 days, I would get it checked out, I left it for over a week last time and then needed 2 lots of Antibiotics as it had got a good hold!
Hope you are now feeling some relief.
Best Wishes,
Sharon.
Thank you. I think I'm over it. Not sure but after 24hours on cystopurin the burn had gone. had my second day on it yesterday and all seems ok so far today. I'm drinking loads and continually running to the loo!!! When you say you left it for a week peterawake did you have the burn for a week? not sure if I should make an appointment anyway
Hi youngat heart,
I had pain after passing urine, it subsided for a day or two so would seem that the Cystopurin was helping, but then came back.
peterawake I've just been to doctor and got 3day course of antibiotics. She was glad I hadn't waited any longer. Thank you so much for your help and advice. X
I’ve got quite a few I can’t take, my ‘go to’ for UTI’s is Nitrofurantoin, a 3 day course, 2 caps a day.
hope you improve very soon, I’ve got two capsules left, much better though still a bit of ‘urgency’ if I have tea or coffee, and am not on alcohol just in case.
