Now lovely people this could all be because I am a fully paid up member of Numpty - that's the opposite of Mensa!!
I purchased a Post Surgery Bra from that well known high street shop......... M and Sparkle. Just writing in cryptic form as I don't want to spend the start of the year on the naughty step
The bra I wore on NYEve and it was lovely, no arguments there.
I noticed this attached to the bra regarding VAT returns
So I filled it in as I was returning something today and asked how I claimed the money back
I was told it would have been removed from the price and no need to complete it!! Err I don't think so and on checking the receipt no it had not. I was refunded. Apparently assistant should have scanned the bar code on the back of that, see below
Being a devil I galloped over to the the lingerie section and asked 2 members of staff what they would do with the card. 2 blank faces looked at me.
I asked and saw the manager. Profuse apology and yes they do need to ensure training is done
I will drop a line to higher up their food chain as well, as I like being a little cheeky and I like things to be made simple not complicated
BUT ........... I wanted to share this with you. I am a bit annoyed as I have bought 4/5 bras and genuinely didn't check and so maybe I paid in full or not.
Be warned . So get them to scan the extra bar code and save yourself some money
Gentle hugs
Leolady56
Wow - massive 'Thank You' Leolady56 for this. I knew about it, however, I didn't know they had to scan label.... which leads me to wonder the very same.
Another thing that gets me, is 'if' these are 'post surgery' bras and other people buy them - then why can't we have the vat back on other bra's that we may find more suitable/comfortable etc to use as a 'post surgery' bra!!! Why not let us just have some sort of card/proof (maybe the medical prescription card that is sent out to us fro free prescriptions could be used) to allow us the vat off whatever bra we intend to buy and use for the purpose!!
Owww I think this is why most things are complicated - so we give up
I am trying to get a 'return label' from Ring.com (they video doorbell company) the return label allows me to return my device 'free of charge' within 30 days, no questions asked. Well three days on, they have virtually broke me - all I want is the returns label or at very worst a 'UK' based returns address - so far I have been given an address in Germany and today one in United States of America!!!
I have tried so hard to keep on top of this, but I will confess, I am loosing all will to carry on fighting them - it seems like 'they' are trying to take me over the '30 days'
Arrrghhh - Thank you Leolady xxxxx
WhatHappened you are busted !
You got the ring.com doorbell so you could see if it was that freind who came with a plant and stayed 8 hours last year
Pass it over I love a battle
I love the phrase "With the greatest respect"
Good point about the bras and actually how long do we claim for
Leolady56
Life is like a boxing match, defeat is declared not when you fall ..... But when you refuse to stand up again ....... So, I get knocked down but I get up again. x
I wonder why on earth is VAT is not taken off already beforehand???
Surely someone who has not had surgery would ever consider buying a post surgery product!!!
Not sure I even knew post surgery bras ever existed before bc, never would have crossed my mind.
I did actually buy a couple of post surgery hammocks, sorry bras, from that said shop but I did it online. Online the VAT comes off automatically at the final checkout. I preferred sports bras and soft bras from mainly Asda.
I think you can always claim VAT for post surgery bras if you have had surgery for bc, don't think there is a time limit.
Cwtches,

I so agree, why oh why do we have to pay VAT (when we’ve had breast surgery) for ANY bra?????
tbh, post surgery bras that I’ve tried were nowhere near as comfy or supportive as the ones I now wear which are sadly a dying brand, JL’s own, in my size now impossible to get. A lovely assistant found the only one left in England for me, for when these two wear out......I only hope that by then Magic and Sparkle or JL will have made a properly comfy non wired bra that is soft to wear.
Surely that shouldn’t be too difficult?

owwww my hahahahahahaha - owww Snowys Mum - if only I had a memory like yours.
I nearly spit my tea out when I read this hahaha.
Brilliant xxxx
I brought post surgery bras from M+S and had no trouble getting the vat back, in fact the sales assistant told me that it had been done. guess it goes to show the training varies store to store.
I only had WLE but bought 2 post surgery bras from Debenhams to wear during radiotherapy as they were soft cotton lined and has a gentle amount of padding and given I’m an G cup it was impossible to find non wired soft supportive bras that were not post surgery. They told me at till that all post surgery bras were VAT free .
Owww Leolady56 - I am still battling with Ring.com - to the point that they are breaking me, absolutely crazy. They are supposed to be emailing me a Return Label to allow me to return goods 'free of charge'. So far I have being given return addresses to send items back in Germany and United States of America with me paying the postage!! Every time I contact someone I get apologies and they will look into it. I have spent hours on the phone, whilst going 'on hold' for them to come back and start all over again. I am now waiting for Colin to reply to my email (to be honest this one does sound hopeful, but so did the others arrghhh. (Lets see if I hear anything overnight).
Sending love and hugs xxxx
I have to smile at your reply Grogg - I 'only' had WLE, this is how we are, we so underestimate what we go through. I too had WLE and am larger busted and large all over, I managed to find a few bras in Magic & Sparkle, however they were not 'post surgery' bras and as for front fastening, well, this was near on impossible, I have since found good front fastening bras online, but not for time of the operation.
I don't wear underwired bras anymore, just out of curiosity, I have read that 'we should 'not' wear underwire bra's'.... is there a reason for this?
Sending love xxx
