Biopsy bruising

Hi,

I had 2 additional biopsies on Monday and, although I was warned there might be some bruising, it's a lot worse that my 1st one was - black & red as opposed to a feint yellow. I did everything I was told to do - keep dressings on for 3 days, keep it dry & apply ice packs provided - so wasn't expecting it. I should point out that it doesn't hurt like a normal bruise. Could it be because they put in 3 marking clips at the same time perhaps? Should I be worried & contact my bcn?

Has anyone had a similar experience or any advice please?

  • Arnica

    Tablets or if possible cream

The breast area is soft tissue and has been moved around. And has been shovelled around to put markers I

Mine looked like a rainbow after 3 operations

Your big worries are; a temperature, heat on the breast to the touch and redness

    Now hopefully you can breathe

But no medic and you know your body than anyone

  • Hi Frankies Ducky ,

i was every colour of the rainbow and if I remember correctly , the second batch of biopsy’s were truly multi coloured , I was told that keeping the running water from the shower would help bring out bruising quicker . I also don’t remember much pain .

But phone your BCN if you are concerned .

    Leolady,

That was suggested by the ultrasound specialist but I haven't been able to find it near me (I live in a village) maybe I'll have better luck on my travels tomorrow. He said tablets so I didn't aggravate the cuts but maybe I can use cream now they've healed. I've not got any other symptoms and the actual biopsy sites are fine.

    Thank you for the reassurance.

    Thank you Ruby Rose,

I'll keep an eye on it and if I'm not happy I'll check with my bcn.

  • God bless online shopping. Check that out too

I too live in a village. 2 pubs, a school and a village hall

The internet, of course, why didn't I think of that! *slaps forehead*

    I don't suppose I can claim pre-chemo head?

My village isn't as remote as yours and it has a small pharmacy but it doesn't stock arnica. Just seen online that it's sold in Holland&Barrett and there's one next to my workplace :)

That's very true! And I've always found that a journey is easier and seems much quicker with good company.

    Hi Frankies_Ducky

I have had both the core biopsy and fine needle biopsy (FNA).  With the core biopsy I only had a small yellow bruise after they had taken out 3 samples of tissue.  As far as I remember there was no pain.  However the FNA gave me the biggest bruise I have ever had!  No idea how many samples of tissue they took as the report did not specify.  Again no pain as far as I can remember.  However it had made me determined never to have a FNA again.

    Love and hugs to everyone

  • Hello Frankies_ducky

Just wanted to share my biopsy bruise experience - I had 2 biopsies initially (not painful) and from one I had an alarmingly Black/blue bruise.  I had to have that one redone as inconclusive result (that hurt!) but no further bruising. I still had the bruise however when went in for lumpectomy 5.5 weeks later.

6 weeks on from surgery, boob is now mostly blue from the dye, no bruising though!

I hope you are not in too much discomfort.
