It seems I'm a patient now!

But not a very patient one!

I've at least got a diagnosis, it's invasive ductal cancer grade 2, but still small, oestrogen receptive but looks as if I might get away with the lymph nodes....and maybe not too much treatment afterwards?

Complex plan, but to begin with, a sentinel node (plus another one or so) removal as day surgery, (a nuclear medicine visit first to get 'the jab' for them to trace) then a gap while that,  plus the HER result come back, then because of my previous surgeries for cysts and the fact one resulted in a massive haematoma, therefore scar tissue, I will have a complete mastectomy with an implant. That will be immediately after Easter.

By finding out as much as possible beforehand, the surgeon hopes to prevent too many operations. Obviously I will then need Tamoxifen or similar, so will appreciate helpful advice about that.

But I'd be interested on anyone's 'take' on her plan. I feel reassured that she took time with me, and the BC nurse afterwards spent a good while too.

  • Hahaha ! I wouldn’t go that far and try after a glass or three, but do admit to not having a concave stomach (which might have helped, lol!) but I’ve also got a grotty back (all my life) and rather stiff hips......even podiatrist put a dressing on one toe!

today is Bombe cleaning, oiling and then demo day. I will be wearing a red jumper which has stars printed all over it as although it’s not official Christmas jumper day it’s close enough!

  • It’s been a strange sort of day, walked into town to see the tree display in our church, and also the floods, and to deliver last two cards.
then lunch, and a doze over a Carry On film and then we both watched ‘Exodus’, the recent film.

that sounds like a nice sort of strange. I enjoyed  the Christmas market in a village near us and bumped into several people I know which was a bonus.

  • It was a good sort of strange day, , I enjoyed it!

  • Today, thank goodness, the Bombe has no school visits so engineering won’t get interrupted!

I know I can be extremely slow on the uptake not the Bletchley Park Bombe?? I keep reading your refs and fi ally penny has dropped

We have a niggling suspicion My OH mother worked there at one point.

  • Hi ,

yes, it’s the Turing Welchman Bombe rebuild, but is now in the National Museum of Computing on the BP campus, I’m the only woman trustee , first woman to get trained since WW2, and I’m now a technician too, doing regular maintenance.

We can still break Enigma settings and have done so 18 times as challenges!

Hubs is chief trainer of all the operators too.
