It seems I'm a patient now!

But not a very patient one!

I've at least got a diagnosis, it's invasive ductal cancer grade 2, but still small, oestrogen receptive but looks as if I might get away with the lymph nodes....and maybe not too much treatment afterwards?

Complex plan, but to begin with, a sentinel node (plus another one or so) removal as day surgery, (a nuclear medicine visit first to get 'the jab' for them to trace) then a gap while that,  plus the HER result come back, then because of my previous surgeries for cysts and the fact one resulted in a massive haematoma, therefore scar tissue, I will have a complete mastectomy with an implant. That will be immediately after Easter.

By finding out as much as possible beforehand, the surgeon hopes to prevent too many operations. Obviously I will then need Tamoxifen or similar, so will appreciate helpful advice about that.

But I'd be interested on anyone's 'take' on her plan. I feel reassured that she took time with me, and the BC nurse afterwards spent a good while too.

  • Back to big tv will be a relief I keep going on about upgrading our old TV and still haven’t done it. Picture would be so much better. Well done on setting up your freesat box.

  • I’ve been back ti the breast clinic today, was getting sore areas in a couple of places so they took a long look via ultrasound and it’s scar tissue especially where the surgical clips are. I was (at last) shown how deep and hard to massage. Hopefully that will help.

    Phew!

  • Pleased all was well   Good you know how to massage. I used to look after plastic surgery patients so had some knowledge as massage is part of scar management.

  • Maybe it was the worry about the aches/pains in the mx side, now assured it’s the surgical clips and scar tissue, but suddenly my blood pressure is much better, phew.

  • If I were you I’d get in touch with my BCN for them to have a look. They might just see you themselves or get you in to see the surgeon. Either way, it’ll get seen. And you’ll worry about it till you know, of course.
