It seems I'm a patient now!

But not a very patient one!

I've at least got a diagnosis, it's invasive ductal cancer grade 2, but still small, oestrogen receptive but looks as if I might get away with the lymph nodes....and maybe not too much treatment afterwards?

Complex plan, but to begin with, a sentinel node (plus another one or so) removal as day surgery, (a nuclear medicine visit first to get 'the jab' for them to trace) then a gap while that,  plus the HER result come back, then because of my previous surgeries for cysts and the fact one resulted in a massive haematoma, therefore scar tissue, I will have a complete mastectomy with an implant. That will be immediately after Easter.

By finding out as much as possible beforehand, the surgeon hopes to prevent too many operations. Obviously I will then need Tamoxifen or similar, so will appreciate helpful advice about that.

But I'd be interested on anyone's 'take' on her plan. I feel reassured that she took time with me, and the BC nurse afterwards spent a good while too.

  • Hoping for a safe trip home and a relax,  . Hope you won’t be battling much in the way of drains.

Just had quite a hefty shower here, it’s cooler today too. Had a podiatry appointment earlier, thankfully I didn’t get wet between Goldie and the appointment! Popped into the local artisan bakery for the most wonderful sliced loaf (which freezes wonderfully) but sadly they are closing at the end of next month.

Got a text from my GP practice inviting me to book for flu and Covid jabs, thankfully they are not all on Saturdays (as you know I volunteer on Saturdays) so I’ve booked a Thursday mid October.

  • Yes,  , lovely photos, I’ve see those lovely places. Hubs and I did a Great Rail journey, Berlin Dresden and Prague and then daughter insisted I join her to meet her German bone marrow donor so we had a weekend in Berlin then too. Surprisingly close to see many things but the Jewish memorial we were running out of time, so had a taxi to and from. It was very moving I thought, though a fun area for kids to run around in. I got quite a good photo of daughter at sunset there.

  • My!
a towel wash done, dried and away then daughter arrived (with Henry-dog) to help begin to sort out the garage. SUCH lot of wood loaded into her van once the rock’n’roll bed was sorted out and lots of tarps/old duvet covers put in to protect her van. Taken to the tip, and thankfully we had a lovely chap also assist us unloading,, then it was back home to comfort a waiting Henry.

Then as we were both hungry and it was the day for my neighbour cooking outside the local pub, we ate there, freshly cooked, hot and very tasty. Then daughter spotted that there’s a ‘coin op’ doggy bath outside the pub, it was very handy, not cheap but a very clean Henry has now gone home! He hates a hair dryer almost as much as the water so wasn’t the happiest of dogs but it was easier than bending down over a bath and he did need doing! A good rub down with a towel, a mad few moments running round and they are now off home.

    ps, and I ache!

  • Had a visit from a PCSO last night, a neighbour has had several vehicles badly ‘keyed’ and I’ve got a light/camera which apparently kicked off in the early hours so they wanted me to review.

thankfully daughter was here so could help with removing the micro-SD card and find a programme to watch on her laptop (it’s pretty old technology though very good!) but we didn’t find anything.

She’s gone off to Düsseldorf where she’s going to be in Rita Oras band again for the Invictus Games, will be filmed for iPlayer (apparently they will be playing after Prince Harry’s speech)

Glorious weather here today, washing is drying well outside.

  • Your daughter does a fair bit of travelling   How are you doing in general, your back improved etc?

Berlin is on our list of places to visit.

  • Hi  , I’m coping! (Not really any decent alternative choice, haha) My back is responding to careful management including specific exercise (no heavy lifting!) and the CBD oil helps. I’m just trying to keep as active as I can. Thanks for asking…..how are you doing?

Berlin is stunning. I’d advise a good few days there.

Yes, daughter is keeping busy, was astonished that today included meeting Prince Harry and Meghan. Sadly no photos though.
