Hi Mag123, that’s so good. I think we all need to get back to having these skills. I’ve been inspired by sewing, looming and your repairing. I used to love knitting, but relied on my Mum to fix the damage. I need to brave it on my own now. Maybe they’ll be holes, but I’ve tried? xx
Karen22.....trying is the most important part. The more you do, the easier it gets.
My tips for success 1) if you can purl and plain stitch you can knit anything. Just have confidence. All patterns are based on those two stitches whether it's a simple plain jumper, lacy, striped, cabled. So don't talk yourself out of the project.
2) Keep checking you have the correct number of stitches. You can either count the row or if you are doing a pattern, make sure the row finishes exactly as the pattern says e.g. purl 5. If either are wrong, take that row back to correct it immediately. You will probably spot your mistake if it's a pattern. Don't continue until you have the right number of stitches to work on again. If you do that......you won't make any holes in your finished article.
Good luck.......
Mag123have a look online for crochet tutorials Once you get the hang of it you’ll be amazed how fast your work grows . I was lucky as a child and was taught knitting ,crochet and embroidery by great aunt . Then was taught to sew and dress make at school . I go thru spells of activity with one craft or another . Daughter started to crochet in lock down never shown an interest before but her daughter did a degree in material surface design . She loves weaving she was fascinated when I told her about a mill in Scotland that I could remember visiting in the early fifties . A relative was a mill girl working the giant Looms I can still remember the noise .
I do think it’s important to keep these crafting skills going… best of luck to everyone with there projects . I’m definitely going to pick my knitting bag back up tomorrow.

Interesting on crafts, I’ve not done much for years, but was taught to knit at school (hated it and still do though I can and can follow a pattern), sewing at secondary school, many crafts at college, and crochet by my mother in law. i do still draw and pastel paint at times. (But I’m not very good at anything!)
Night night Fruit Loops, sleep well and stay safe, plenty of sleepy fairy dust for all who wish

Grogg, I am replying to your excitement at renegotiating arrrrgh this makes me want to run and hide....we are with Sky for TV, Broadband and Mobiles ..... Mobiles was negotiated last year (and got me to come over to Sky from EE) ..... I have had an email saying Sky SIMs contact comes to an end on 14th December so will start paying more from then. .... this fills me with dread.... I've just had to do the cover with the RAC (sometimes wonder if we need it - but best to be safe) ..... Renewal was going to be £144 for 12 months for hubby and me based on each 'person' not the car - so which ever vehicle we are in - that would be covered..... well, I have got it to £85.00 for 15months!!! now I think this sounds good - but then I was only comparing on their quote - I didn't look else where, I am happy with this - just used up all my strength to take on Sky arrghhh
I think we need a thread ..... Winning with Grogg or Sewing with Grogg better still Take'em on with Grogg
I've not had chance to catch up on all the posts - hope everyone has had a great weekend.
Sending love and hugs to everyone and remember....

Sal, is this hard to do..... I ask as you might remember I've been trying to find a hobby for my dear 90+ years young mum... mum can knit however doesn't seem to bother so much at the moment (saying go lots of aches and pains - especially in her legs - seem to of come on out of know where - I'm not sure what to suggest).
Anyway, I've gone off track..... the scarf looks amazing and I am wondering if a knitter would find this hard to do
I'm glad your back on here - its where you belong xxxx
