  • Morning FruitLoops, well I did! 1st chemo session over, nurse was lovely and I did try the cold cap. First 10mins and last 20 uncomfortable, I was against it because of added time in hospital but chemo unit was well socially distanced and as nurse said if you don’t try 1st chemo there’s no going back. So will wait and see how it goes. Feeling tired but not tired and had leg pains last night and a bit of nausea plus a thumping headache. Leg pains settled with my Michael Seeley healing audio and got some sleep, woke at 4am and read my book for an hour. Up again at 7am for early brekkie as told to take both steroids before 12/1pm as they’ll keep me awake. Dozed off again as I was reading my book and just staggering out of bed at this late hour. Still feeling nauseous and still got a thumping headache so will try some paracetamol...do I need to tell team about that, I’m not sure as they said to report everything?
LP was quite well behaved until he rummaged through the syringe drawers when my nurse was getting my drugs ready. She thought he was cute and let him see all the different size then he filled one with water and squirted me! I did make sure he had some healthy treats and was so glad he was with me and made it safely back. I hope he behaves for you GodWilling today.
so sorry to hear you didn’t get the news you hoped for, something similar happened to me as you’ll see on my profile. My surgeon told me a lumpectomy with clear margins plus radiotherapy had the same results as a mastectomy regarding recurrence. I did the pros and cons list too which was helpful. I now have a pert pair of boobs like  as I had a reduction on other one at the same time and I’m so glad I did. It’s your body as you will know in your heart which one is for you once you think about it calmly.

Wishing you all peace and calm in the storm...with a helping of laughter and joy to bring healing Heart️

  • Well done first one ticked off glad you got some sleep just take it easy today . Headaches can be a SE I used to get one in the last ten minutes of infusion ..every time ! Would sit back after couple of painkillers til pain passed . I take migraine preventive so didn't really get bad ones during cycle just an awareness of slight headache and noise sensitive .

There was a post two three days ago titled    "migraines and EC"  from someone if you can find it . If it gets really bad and doesn't respond to painkiller ring your unit and have a chat . They'll be happy to help

thanks went well ans she out my mind at rest around a few things.

What would anyone recommend taking to a chemo session (food and drink), I have stuff to keep me occupied already (Netflix, Books and Facetime with Hubby).

  • Afternoon   well I'm done for day . Wardrobes etc moved in bedroom so decorating can recommence tomorrow. Long discussion with hubby who doesn't know how to pace himself Joy

Hubbys phone consultation with his Rheumatoid Arthritis nurse specialist.  All bloods fine so they happy to continue with just one dmard . He behaved and asked the questions about fatigue and also about taking Vit D.

We both took  Dexter for a rainy walk ( stopped him painting ) when we arrived back letter about hubbys vaccine here so I went straight online and it's now booked for tomorrow a.m.

    Hopefully mine here shortly

How are you not getting too stressed about hubs I hope

  • Hi  If you haven't already seen it there is a list of hints and a shopping list that has developed its posted at the beginning of the chemo 2020 thread here is the link

    https://community.macmillan.org.uk/blogs/b/weblog18/posts/chemo-aids-shopping-list-gathered-from-breast-group-memebrs

personally I used to take bottle of water ,bits of fruit already sliced ,  frozen grapes to suck ,sweets

mainly things that would help the dehydration and sometimes yuck taste in mouth . I also had couple panadol with me because for some strange reason I always got an immediate headache

you sound as if you're getting well organised wont be long before you can start ticking each cycle off

What on earth have I said to get Domestic abuse message !!

  • Hi all,

, I’ve a constant ‘knot’ feeling in my tum but did sleep a bit longer last night, previous night I woke at 5 and that was it. Last night it was 6, but went to sleep again.

Receptionist phoned him this afternoon to book the requested blood test; in a weeks time?!?!? They aren’t exactly hurrying in spite of my letter of complaint. The discharge letter said in a week or two, well that’s almost 3 weeks.....grrrrrrrr! I expect their excuse is they are full of vaccination appointments!

Ah well, the vagaries of dear old NHS, eh?

  • I would complain to hubs consultant via secretary saying your concern than GP not responding very quickly

Is there anywhere else he can go for bloods we pick up the form  then either chose app at GP or pop in at hospital . Must admit I usually go to hospital because I can time it with other app so only one visit .

Try to unknot I know it's a tighter knot when we worry about others rather than us but if it's getting too much get out for a walk at a quiet time so your mind can clear a bit .

With regards full of vaccine clinics well Yes but No ! We are told continue with all GP appointments despite covid plus today wth hubbys vaccine app. He had 7 clinics to chose from all at varying distances. Chose the closest a pharmacy 4 mile away . App tomorrow .

Approx one hour later our GP surgery rang to offer him app for next Tuesday  so Think not too many probs with jabs .  He in group 3 ( 75 yr ) I'm group 4 CEV and over 70
