My Dad was diagnosed with multiple brain tumours last Thursday since then they have found a shadow on his lung and a shadow in his stomach they are saying they are all secondary tumour but are unsure where the main stem is he as a pet scan this week then they will come with a plan they have told him he will always have the brain tumours but can treat it , I’m so worried and unsure what it all means

  • Hi and welcome to the Online Community. I'm sorry to read of your dad's diagnosis and can fully understand how worried you are. Any cancer diagnosis causes stress anxiety and a whole heap of emotions as well as innumerable questions.

You'll know more once your dad's had his pet scan and his team have met to discuss his treatment plan forward. Scientific advances mean people can live with cancer as a treatable disease.

I see you've joined our Brain cancer forum so the members will be along to chat and I've also tagged the Community Champion of this group  to let her know you've joined the group.

Sending you welcoming hugs, B xx

Hi thank you for your words and tag I really appreciate it

  • Hello again Gems123

sorry the news you've had this week hasn't been more reassuring. As MrsBJH says, wait until he's had the scan and then listen to what the team have to say. In the meantime, maybe write down all the questions you have  and take that with you to the appointment when the time comes. I know from experience its very easy to get overwhelmed with information at appointments and so easy to forget to ask what you needed to. If you've got it written down then its a quick reminder. Also I'd suggest you take notes of what they tell you as its a lot to remember at times.

One step at a time.  Think positive and stay strong.

sending you a huge virtual hug
