Hi everyone

I've just finished week 2 of 33 radiotherapy fractions. I've been on long term sick leave since last July from surgery during which I had a minor stroke and had to spend quite a while in a rehabilitation ward to recover. I've been fortunate to receive full pay from my work during this time as a result of length of service (12 years). I have a monthly catch up with our hr director.  This week she did advise (and reiterated its not a threat) that they may resort to half pay. I have an admin job that usually has a lot of running around in the office, so I said I can start online at home for 2 hours a day and slowly build up.im really worried about the pay cut but realise ive been fortunate with the full pay so far. I dont think their behaviour wis following the reasonable adjustment route.

  • HI Anni_07

sorry to hear about all that has been going on.

I'd encourage you to give the MacmIllan helpline a ring for guidance on this from a legal angle. You will be covered under the Disability Discrimination Act but how that translates to your specific role within the firm you work for I can't comment on.

I run a team for a retail bank and know that if we have someone who has been off long term sick then we phase their return , gradually increasing their working hours until they are back to their normal working pattern over a period of weeks eg if you've been off 6 months we would phase you back over 6 weeks or so.

Hope you get this sorted out.

sending love and light and hugs

    Wee Me xx

  • Thank you, Wee Me! The commute is 1.5 hours each way so ive pointed out heading in wil be disastrous and very much taking one step forward/several back in my recovery. Have a good weekend!
