Alternatives to Lansoprazole?

Hi all. Does anyone have any suggestions for non pharmaceutical alternatives to Lansoprazole please. Ive been on Dexamethasone since diagnosed with primary lung and mets brain, liver, lymph, bone and Adrenal. The Lansoprazole was prescribed to protect stomach, but the side effects of bloating and wind just make sleep impossible.  The side effects seem to destroy your gut microbiome,  which I had worked hard to improve over the last year.  Has anyone used pre and probiotics to protect from the risk of stomach ulcers. My goal is to try to reduce the amount of chemicals in my body, I know I can't avoid this totally as the chemo and target therapy seem to be doing a great job, the brain mets have reduced by 50% and now I dont need radiotherapy, which is phenomenal.  Any advice would be appreciated

  • Hi SammyS

sorry to hear about the side effects of the Lansoprazole,  This isn't an area I have a lot of experience with  but my late husband was prescribed Omeprazole when he was taking his oral chemo tablets. I'm guessing that they are the same "family" of drugs.

The best folk to talk to about suitable alternatives are your medical team.

There are more natural ways to use diet to improve your gut microbiome such as increasing fiber in your diet, eating fermented foods like kefir and ensuring that you stay well hydrated.
