My hair is just starting to grow back from breast cancer. I had lymph nodes removed .I had chemo radiation and surgery,I’m just starting to feel like myself again. But now I have unbelievable pain at the top of my leg under my but for the past month. I’ve been for x-rays went for a CT scan today and have bone test and blood test next Monday. I really hope it’s not bone cancer, I hate the anxiety it causes waiting for test results. My question is has anybody experienced this type of pain, most of the time it’s in the same spot. Sometimes it actually radiates down the back of their leg. Some days I can’t walk without a cane. Opioids don’t even take the pain away.
Hi Surgal, try not to worry too much about it until you have got your results, easier said than done, some pain can’t be cured with just opioids, i found this when I developed pain in my spine, (I have secondary breast cancer in my bones, the majority in my spine and the vertebrae started to crumble due to tumours and this caused another pain that could only be taken away the nerve pain medication so maybe ask your doctor or Macmillan nurses if you have them helping you. Some pain like you describe is usually nerve pain and the fact it radiates down your leg sounds like sciatica which can be caused by a herniated disc, bone spurs or muscle strain, google sciatica and have a read to find ways to help you lessen the pain and manage your symptoms, It sounds pretty much like it so I hope your symptoms improve, good luck with your results and recovery x

. Good morning Joe, thank you for your reply. The physiotherapist and the medical doctor have ruled out sciatica. I have also had an x-ray that ruled out a bone chiip. The pain majority of the time is localized right under my buttocks. I have been reading up on this, which I know people tell me not to do, but it’s hard not to. My mornings are often good but come around after noon the pain is horrible. I told my doctor the pain was 20 out of 10. Lol yes it really is bad.. And after everything I’ve been thru This past year nothing has hurt like this.
thanks again suegal
I wonder what an earth is causing the pain then?
Have they thought about any other meds that may help you with the pain? Try the Macmillan nurses if else fails, you shouldn’t really be in that much pain with no help especially when you have told them it’s bothering you quite a lot, and yes google! We shouldn’t but we do! Have you found anything of help yet? X

Hi Suegal,
So sorry that you are in such pain. I have been told many times NOT to google (with their head saying no) that I have stopped mentioning it. I have felt like a chastised child for doing it. But, I have found information a comfort as as well as concern. It has helped me to prepare for questions, locate research old and new, and ask for greater clarity. I am aware that information can be incorrect but that can be discussed with the health professional who may not always have all the answers either. It is scary not knowing. Stress and anxiety in waiting for news is torturous. Finding others with similar experiences or symptoms helps me to feel less alone and isolated. Your choices, your life, your decisions. I like to hold on to what I can still control in my life. You can always come to the community to share what you have found too.
Good searching,
