Am coming to the end of a 5 day dose of Radiotherapy.First three days spent throwing up after every treatment then I was prescribed ondansetron and then it all settled down.
I have to wonder why nobody made sure this was prescribed well before treatment started. Still last day and everything settling down.
To all those going through radiotherapy good luck.
Hi Marty666
I am sorry to hear that you experienced some nausea during your radiotherapy.
During my own treatments it was the nausea that was one of the toughest things to deal with- such a horrible feeling.
My own radiotherapy was 25 sessions (pelvis) and I had tummy effects from the first few days and was given meds for it and the nausea developed further along. It was trial and error with different combinations of meds to get things under control. In the end I had to take the ondansetron 30 minutes before each session. It did help but it was frustrating that I had to experience the effects before the treatments were given. I suppose they don't know how people will react.
I hope that you have now finished your treatment and that it has been successful. I found the nausea did settle fairly quickly once the treatment ended.
