Have stage 4 terminal secondary bone cancer in various places and had now spread to left hip. I am on am, pregablin ,slow release morphine tablets  omeprazole ,paracetamol, thyroxine ,and calcium tablets.in pm everything above except thyroxine, omeprazole and calcium usually take around 5 -6pm.

Have liquid morphine when and if I need it. Every night there is a couple of hours when the daytime tablets seem to have worn off and have to wait for the evening dose to kick in. The pain in my left leg is bad. Any suggestions gratefully received, allready had my dosage raised but disheartening to go through this every night.

  • Hi

I’m sorry to read that you have a period of a few hours each night when your painkillers have worn off. I can't help with any advice other than to speak to your hospital team.

If you don't get any replies here, it might be an idea to also join the living with incurable cancer group to see if the members there can make any suggestions.

  • Sorry your having the breakthrough pain at night, are you on orimorph for breakthrough?

I am same pain in left leg it drives me mad, have you tried a heat pad? I used to sit on it or wrap it round leg, I am pleased to say that I am on probably on the right cocktail of meds, let your gp or cancer team know your having breakthrough they may adjust yr meds doses..

    Keep smiling
