I have just been diagnosed and I am waiting for an operation date

Most of the posts on here are about or from men

I would love to hear from women who have had treatment

  • Yes it was Beckenham Beacon, I saw the same doctor at the PRUH and he was still very non communitive, some of these doctors are strange. Mind you working in the NHS you see what doctors are like.

  • My doctor was an Asian women, very young, I thought maybe that was why

    But obviously not

Where did you have your TURBT?

  • Seems like most of us did not have a great experience Disappointed

  • Before I got cancer I saw one urologist who told me he did not have time to discuss my bladder because he was due on the golf course.I’ve found neurology consultants to be the worst.Love Jane x

  • OMG Scream

    That is shocking, Tina X

  • On my first cystoscopy I was told I had multiple superficial bladder tumours which sounded awful. Nothing really explained as to what the procedure was other than the booklet they give you. I literally went straight from that to having a pre-assessment in the same hospital on the same afternoon. That was the 2nd June 2020 and I had my first TURBT on the 19th June. Complete whirlwind, I felt quite alone at the time.

It was during COVID lockdown and I distinctly remember sitting down that afternoon in the garden completely bewildered by what had just happened. Apologies for posting this on the female bladder title but I just thought I'd echo what some of the ladies have experienced with lack of information.

No need to apologise, you are very welcome to join us ladies Grinning

I can't imagine how hard it must have been during lock down

How are you now and what treatment have you had?

    Best wishes, Tina X

  • Thanks Tina, I go for another cystoscopy Saturday week at Darenth Valley Hospital. Not looking forward to that much but who does? I have posted on here before that I have suffered with chemical cystitis due to the BCG treatment (14 before it was stopped) and I am at the moment. It does seem to flare up at times and makes life a tad uncomfortable. I wish you well on your journey, do take it one step at a time and don't worry too far ahead. Do not be afraid to ask questions and make notes if you can.

    Take care,  Chris

  • I know Darenth Valley well, I used to live in Barnhurst

    Good luck for Saturday Chris

  • Thank you. I live in Gravesend. I will tell you I was fortunate on my initial TURBT to have it done at KIMS in Maidstone, it was at the time the NHS had paid for private hospitals to help during COVID. There were 2 patients on one floor and I was one of them.Talk about more nurses than patients, I think it spoilt me a bit.
