A Chatty Catch Up.

Hi All. This sort of thread happens in other groups and works quite well so I thought I would give it a go here, especially now some people are shielding and isolating again. Just general chat away from the usual medical things where people can just talk.

So, I went out for a quick pint earlier to Wethers for the first time since the local restrictions came in to force this week. Greeted at the door and had to give details. Asked if I wanted a drinking table or an eating one. Drinking, of course. The eating section, you had to have table service only. I was taken to a single table. The drinking tables, you order at the bar and then drinks are brought to your table. Last orders 9.30 and all out by 10. All very organised and for someone who likes their own company it suited me fine. I was hoping to hear a nostalgic bell and the shout of "Last orders Ladies and Gentleman please", but it was all a very sedate leaving. Best wishes

  • It's been a sunny day here in Manchester and I've been doing a bit of tidying in the garden before our gardener starts back next week! Mr W has been out on his bike he's much tougher since having Covid and the minimum temperature at which he goes out has dropped 6 degrees

I'm so sorry to read about your Mum and hope you are able to visit soon  it may be that the sound of your voice may reach her and she will be aware you are there

Mr W and I had the Pfizer vaccine no side effects for him but I woke in the early hours with a headache which 2 paracetamol sorted out

Highlight was we got stickers We are easily pleased lol

    Take care lots of love

  • It is good to hear that Mr W is doing well since he was so ill with Covid.I have to go back and have the AstraZeneca jab instead. When the nurse was asking about allergies I mentioned that I was very allergic to contrast dye.She went off and had a word with the dr there and he said it was best to have the other vaccine.I forgot to say that I had developed neurological problems on two occasions after booster vaccinations too.Hopefully I should be ok.I cannot use Iodine or eat dates as they produce an allergic reaction.Denby the parrot was pale green/grey with a red tail and larger than a parakeet.I have not seen it since.Sorry to hear you had side effects from the az jab Teasswill.I hope they wear off quickly.I expect mum will look very different when we do get to visit. She is not well enough to be taken to the visiting pod but staff say I can see her in her room.I haven’t seen mum since Dec 10th when she was in the community hospital nearby.Love to you all Jane xx

What a shame you couldn’t have your vaccination Jane, hopefully you will get a date for the Astra Zeneca one very soon.

I’m sorry you had side effects to your jab Teasswill, I know one or two people who had flu like symptoms with the Astra jab and read somewhere that it could possibly mean that you may have already had Covid!! I had the Pfizer jab and although I was in an ambulance for half an hour afterwards I was told it wasn’t a reaction to the jab but an anxiety attack. Here’s hoping I’m ok when I have the second one.

Lovely day here in Glossop as well so was able to get out in the garden and do some tidying up with Mr L. It makes such a difference when the sun is shining.Sun with face.

  • No, I think it's just an indication of a good immune system doing its job! At my age, very unlikely I'd have had COVID & not noticed. Interestingly I've just remembered that no-one asked about allergies. Not that I have any serious ones. Just had to wait around a bit as I was driving.

Changing the subject, enjoying watching a couple of bullfinches eating spearmint seeds off the plants out in the garden.

  • Well all you glass-raisers, two things to top up and tip up to. Bad first, raise them please to minimal treatment need and no spread, Mr. D has just had a diagnosis of melanoma from the excision of a dark patch on top of his ear. Dental hospital spotted it and did the excision but do not so far follow the standard path outlined on the melanoma forum, which I have now joined. So more waiting.

Meanwhile at least, WooHoo, a clear cystoscopy this afternoon and another 6 months off [it was only 3 this time due to iffy patches but good they have not been of further concern].

    Hi Denby,

Definitely a curve ball but well done to the Dental Hospital for spotting it. Hope things go well for Mr D’s treatment.

Great news about the cystoscopy, always an anxious time. I have mine on Thursday so hope I get the same result.

    Best wishes Luce x

  • Yes Denby great news vis cystoscopy. Good luck on Thursday Lucy. I have mine at 6.00 pm tonight. A long day ahead for me but the sun is shining, clear sky albeit overnight frost means it is relatively chilly here in Walton Le Dale.

    stay safe Garviv
