A Chatty Catch Up.

Hi All. This sort of thread happens in other groups and works quite well so I thought I would give it a go here, especially now some people are shielding and isolating again. Just general chat away from the usual medical things where people can just talk.

So, I went out for a quick pint earlier to Wethers for the first time since the local restrictions came in to force this week. Greeted at the door and had to give details. Asked if I wanted a drinking table or an eating one. Drinking, of course. The eating section, you had to have table service only. I was taken to a single table. The drinking tables, you order at the bar and then drinks are brought to your table. Last orders 9.30 and all out by 10. All very organised and for someone who likes their own company it suited me fine. I was hoping to hear a nostalgic bell and the shout of "Last orders Ladies and Gentleman please", but it was all a very sedate leaving. Best wishes

Thanks Garviv, good luck for later. Mine’s late afternoon but not as late as yours.

  • Oh dear, Denby, one step forward, one back. Friend of mine had melanoma removed from earlobe. Several years of checks (visually, top to toe), has now been discharged. Hope you both cope OK. Will wait to raise a glass until the w/e!

  • I have mine on Thursday too Luce. Fingers crossed for us both. x

  • I’ll be thinking of you both.xx

  • Marvellous news about cystoscopy Denby. I guess these many years of managing bladder cancer give you both confidence about the melanoma. Well spotted the dental hospital. xx

Yes definitely. Hope we both get the result we want xx

  • Thanks all, your kind wishes appreciated. I'll be happier if and when we find out it has not spread...Yes well done the dental hospital but he's seen several other dentists who didn't say anything; the old GP years ago said it was Winkler's disease, not malignant, cryotherapied it off, saying it would come back, so when it did we ignored it. Now I've got to battle with him [sigh] to get all the little lesions on his back checked out. Before I knew him, he used to pay a lot of cricket never wearing a hat of any sort nor sunscreen and from what his mum said get significantly sunburnt, [he's got that sort of colouring] so it's not really surprising.

Just fed up at the prospect of yet more hospital time getting in the way of sorting out our muddled lives [moving boxes not unpacked from 2016] which is awful for his mental health [Asperger's often need orderliness]. But must be grateful as chippies returned this afternoon to fix grabrails which complete our downstairs bathroom.

It will be good for me at least to be back to once-weekly school-run for grandson next Tuesday, something to get us out.

  • I can’t think why but the old tv programme what’s my line came into my head this morning. If you remember , people came before a panel who had to guess what their job was. They’d sign in and do a simple mime to describe their work and for some odd reason I wondered what mime a urology nurse administering BCG would do

  • I remember that programme.I used to be a psychiatric nurse I can’t imagine what kind of mime you could do for that.
