  • Hi . I have been using Siemens test strips for a few years. I believe doctors use  these. The wife got them from Boots a while ago for about a tenner. The main thing I look for is blood. There are various other indicators. As long as they all show clear I am happy. I probably do a test once a month. They can show high readings for other things, but this can depend on diet etc. and so follow up tests are needed just to check. Bear in mind these are just indicators, but any high readings that do not go away, drop a sample at the GPs to check. Make sure you get them from a reputable source as there are a lot of fakes out here. Best wishes.

  • Sory, rily but I can't find them onlines at Boots. Thanks.

  • I got mine from a pharmacy rather than online. I've had the same bottle for about 2 years now. There are about 50 in a bottle. Siemens multistix 8. (Pharmacy?? What happened to chemists? Best wishes.

I’m glad I’m not the only one who uses these strips, always a reassurance when no blood showing!

  • I used to use them as well. When I was training to be a nurse I was seconded to a general hospital where I was dubbed ‘the urine queen of ward 16 ‘ as I would do all the strip testing.I’m always suprised when medics don’t wait the required time stated when using the strips.Jane xx

One little point the test strips cease to be reliably accurate after theyve been open for 3 months I’m afraid

  • Yes,I meant to mention that point too.Jane xx

  • I don't do the strips but have considered, I'd probably have a raging panic attack if I found anything.  Although according to the nurse I've always got blood in my urine, which is to be expected she says as I've always just had an op & have a UTI.

Winkers Sweat smile  Urine Queen, what a title!  Despite me telling the nurse from the HC that my urology nurse wanted to see the urine sample she would just look, fling it down the sink, & continue to tell me the same story of her relative who'd lived quite happily with BC for many years.  She was a bit of a rough diamond but she always gave me my antibiotics.
