Hi All. How is everyone doing? Anyone stuck indoors? Remember, this is a support group, and things don't always need to be medical. There is usually someone here if you just want a chat, a moan, or any stories. My wife has been stocking up on paint, so guess what I will be doing in the near future. Best wishes.

  • Oh Wilbert what a nightmare but so glad you got back ok, well nearly home. ...It's all so scary i hate to think how it will all end. Only been in icolation 3 days and already wondering what to do.

Good luck everybody and stay safe X

  • Was thinking of you Wilbert. I'd've loved to have gone to an empty airport & get on an empty plane, I know I'm weird.  One person was saying that they'd paid £700 for 2 flights from Spain to Manchester!

Nothing to report really except I've done all the spring cleaning, some painting, a bit of shopping, & made many phone calls.  Well, I hope the shops where you live are not too crowded, & they have something left to buy.  I do believe that everyone's just going berserk now buying up everything & anything.  Am I the only one who's glad that I don't have to have my TURBT just yet?

    Stay safe all xxx

  • Hi All, challenging times ahead it would seem. Just read that social distancing may be in place for a year!
I’ve been busy cancelling all my volunteer and most of social commitments so my diary is empty now.

I run a Book Group so we are going to try doing a group Skype session to discuss our next book. It’ll be a one off as our library who source our books is going to be shutting it’s doors for the duration very soon.

At least the weather is improving so can get on with the gardening and outdoor jobs. My suggestion to my husband that we do a list of jobs didn’t go down too well!

I live in a small town with countryside on our doorstep so hopefully can still do some walking, even with a friend if we walk at a distance from each other.

We're lucky as well in that our local butchers, greengrocers do home delivery so we won’t starve.
Thank goodness for technology, at least we can keep in touch with our loved ones and of course this lovely group.

    Keep safe and well everyone.

  • Well, if I have to stay indoors with nowhere to go, I am going to try and grow a beard. Never had one in my life. In the 80s, I did have a cool droopy moustache. On photos, my kids think I look like a porn star. I have tried before to grow a beard, but when I get to day 4 or 5, my wife says I look like Albert Steptoe and makes me shave.

This is Albert Steptoe by the way, not me. Not far off it these days though Laughing

    Stay safe everyone. Best wishes.

    Best wishes to All,   rily.

What is a Community Champion ?

  • Ha!

Maybe you should change your handle to Albert! I submitted a request to discontinue shaving at the commander's table in 1973 and have been furry chinned ever since. Over the years I've watched it go from dark brown to white, weathered the fashion trends as beards have come and gone and enjoyed not shaving.

People ask me often how long I've had it - the answer is, never more than half an inch Joy

I had a virtual pint on Skype with a chum earlier this week - after an hour we were talking complete nonsense just as we would in the pub!

p.s. forumites' suggestions for your porn star name to be submitted here ...

I may appear to be listening but in my head I'm all at sea.

  • I've noticed a tendency for older men to grow beards, especially when they retire from work. Personally, I think it usually makes them look a lot older. But then I'm not a fan of beards/moustaches at all. Which is odd as my husband has a beard - I've never seen him clean shaven except a photo of him aged about 20.

I've been wondering how many people will cope without their regular visit to the hairdresser. I foresee a surge in home hair dye sales! Fortunately I manage to cut my own & Mr T's hair so we'll still look OK. I'm trying to 'keep up appearances' - easy to let things slide otherwise.

I'm finding it rather relaxing not having to rush to do anything. Loads still on my to do list, trying not to spend too much time at the computer. Intrigued that The Archers (BBC R4 soap) doesn't have coronavirus, but TV soaps are being cancelled.

Aren't there websites to find your alternative name (superhero, pron star etc...)

    Keep well.

  • After hormone replacement for breast cancer I too thought I was growing a beard, according to MrB I'd always had it Rolling eyes Anyway I mentioned it to the Onco thinking we would all fall about laughing, but no such thing happened.  Much to my horror he said "My dear you could well grow a full beard"  Scream.   That was one of my darker days.  I didn't grow a beard but had what they call down fine hair, no chance mate I got the Nair on it right away but it gave me a rash, so I just have a gentle shave now every week.  I may too leave it to see if I do grow a full beard.

I've considered doing a live concert from my balcony, no, I can't sing or play any musical instrument apart from the triangle & 3 blind mice on the recorder, however, I've been told that I'm a great performer.  Plus MrB has much gear, so perhaps I could learn to play guitar, keyboard, drums ..... Although I'm not sure that the neighbours would appreciate it.

    Keep safe everyone xxx

  • Well they say laughter is the best medicine and your recent posts have certainly helped me!

I will cope with self isolation but as Teasswill mentioned I’m not sure if I can manage without a visit to the hairdressers. I have visions of my hair being long and straggly with massive grey roots. Not sure if I trust myself with a hair dye, knowing my luck it would turn my hair green. Scream
Might risk a trip to the hairdressers this week if I’m allowed but in the scheme of things it should be the least of my worries!

    Keep safe and well everyone.

  • I grew a beard once and was rather proud of it until someone said I had my head on upside down. (Thin on top)
