Hi all, following my first TURBT I had a flexi yesterday and found another tumour right adjacent to the scar of the first one.
Felt worse about this one than the original, but I am lucky that the great NHS gets on with the treatment.
I had no chemo wash last time so do wonder if that's why.
Good part was they have a new bit of kit and you see it all in incredible detail, must be 4K lol.
Hi foxbrush. Must be really disappointing when this happens. The good thing is we are monitored regularly and these things are picked up early. The new kit sounds promising. I wonder if it helps improve TURBTs as they will get a much clearer image and see what they are dealing with better. Best wishes.
foxbrush,
I always imagined recurrence was something that you get used to, but you don't as you think that it's come back to get you this time. We wouldn't be human if we didn't feel this way, of course we have acts of bravado from time to time but we all have the fear. We're all here for you mate x
Hello Foxbrush
I also had a recurrence Six months after my chemo radiotherapy treatment finished albeit the tumour was deemed superficial and following removal biopsy revealed low grade status. This was followed by rigid cystoscopy several weeks ago with a full and deep bladder examination. Consultant said all was clear apart from red scarring in two places due to radiotherapy treatment. I have a flexible cystoscopy due in February 2020. It is worrying when you get a recurrence but hopefully it is low grade and the tumour can be removed and the next flexi clear!
Thinking of you

Hi foxbrush,
Sorry to hear about your reoccurrence. I’ve had TURBTs when chemo wash has been given and still had reoccurrences and also without the chemo wash and had reoccurrences.
Not sure if it’s down to the size of the tumour or the surgeon. I did ask once why I wasn’t given the mitomycin and the answer was’ well it didn’t work last time’!
Stay positive and hope you get an early appointment for your TURBT.
Best wishes Luce
Sorry to hear about that foxbrush. I've been there, so demoralising, and almost worse when you can see the tumour (or in my case multiple tumours) with your own eyes. But as you say the NHS is on it. 30 days later another TURBT and all removed again. I've never had a chemo wash but my recurrences have been during a course of BCG. They just whip them out and carry on with the doses. I hope you can try to relax over Christmas and not worry too much. I've had 2 recurrences and I'm still trucking along. Sending love H x
