Problem

Yesterday I had my first mitomycin treatment which was fine apart from being quite painful when being prepared and inserting the catheter.

The nurse said everything was sore and red down below and this was mentioned when I had my last flexi a couple of weeks ago

. I wasn’t really aware of it before that and to try and avoid the soreness next week the nurse suggested I try  Sudocrem.

Has anyone experienced this and any tips of what is best to use. I have used the sudocrem but it’s a bit stingy.

Hope everyone’s ok.

Thanks Luce

    Hi Lucy

Sorry to hear of your problem I've read in other groups that Udderly is quite good and gentle.

When I was active on another site which was mainly American themed the ladies used to mention that  they found creams for baby nappy rash to be good for healing and soothing but for obvious reasons I've never used it!

I'm assuming that the Sudacrem you are using is the antiseptic based one you could also try  E45 cream or ask your pharmacist for some zinc cream.

Hope this might be of interest to you and you're able to resolve your soreness.

    Thanks Bodach,

I’ve not heard of Udderly, it looks as though it’s only available via the Internet.

Thanks for your other suggestions, I will try Sudacrem and see how it goes, if no joy at least I have some others to try.

  • Hi lucy

After the cdiff and ecoli left me at projectile rates over 6 post surgery days, I used sudocrem to soothe my very sore rear valve. I still use it now but have two pots, one for general use and one for the back end.

I may appear to be listening but in my head I'm all at sea.

  • On a lighter note. I once recommended Sudafed instead of Sudacreme . Rubbing a decongestant on your bits  doesn't work. GrinningGrinning

Thanks CB and rily, using the Sudacreme so it will hopefully do the trick.

Definitely don’t fancy using Sudafed, that would sting!!

Thanks Ian, definitely some unusual places! One of the stockist is Stepping Hill Hospital where I am having my treatment so I will have a look next week.

  • Sudocream was what I found worked, I became very sore and stingy when I had my 6 weeks of it . It was always at the tip that it got really sore , and I had a red patch. I know different for men and women lol but the sudocream did the job .

Good luck and I hope the mitomycin course works.

  • My husband got Daktacort combined fungicide/mild steroid cream from the GP for several red patches on the tip. Worked OK.
