Hi everyone,

The lovely @latchbrook set up the original 'recommended travel insurance thread' which you can still view here. Just so you don't have to go through the different pages of information to find recent recommendations, you can find the most recent experiences in this thread.

Please note, all recommendations are from Community members and are not recommendations from Macmillan. Please do your own research as to whether the companies are suitable for you.

This thread can be used to update the group when you've found an insurance company that provided you with cover at a reasonable cost from a recommendation you found here or elsewhere.

If you could put a little bit of additional information eg. whether you got a single trip or annual, cover for a cruise, worldwide, etc along with anything else that you think others would find helpful when they are researching that would be great.

You may also find Macmillan's 'Cancer and buying travel insurance' page to be helpful

  • Thank you for the web site info, I will try them next time  I require travel insurance as I am finding that 'Insurancewith' are starting to become expensive

  • Hi Vix, I know that I got a discount for being an existing member with LV but I am 76 and my partner is 67 (with a few issues all being catered for by medicine) and we have been able to get a multi trip annual policy (with trips up to 90 days duration) for just over £400 (but excluding cover for anything to do with my pre-existing bowel cancer but otherwise we are fully covered. Might be worth a look?

  • Hi! This thread was so helpful. I got travel insurance for myself and my husband, who has stage 4 stomach cancer, for a fraction of the cheapest price quoted from a normal comparison website. £162 for the two of us, versus nearly £700, for a single 10-day trip to Spain (I have osteoporis, just to complicate things and opted for the mid-priced quote of three offered). I used https://www.insurancewith.com/ and found the questionnaire reasonably easy to fill out. Thanks so much to everyone who has contributed to this thread.

  • That's great to read  and I hope you and your husband have a lovely holiday.

  • Thank you!

  • Erm, got over-excited, osteoarthritis, to be clear.

  • Hello! I am hoping to spend 5 days in France and have been quoted £500. I am having maintenance treatment for ovarian cancer diagnosed at stage 3c last April.

I wondered if anyone could recommend a good insurance company, who will be able to guide me through the process and perhaps come up with something more competitive.

    thanks,

    Katie
