Hi everyone,
The lovely @latchbrook set up the original 'recommended travel insurance thread' which you can still view here. Just so you don't have to go through the different pages of information to find recent recommendations, you can find the most recent experiences in this thread.
Please note, all recommendations are from Community members and are not recommendations from Macmillan. Please do your own research as to whether the companies are suitable for you.
This thread can be used to update the group when you've found an insurance company that provided you with cover at a reasonable cost from a recommendation you found here or elsewhere.
If you could put a little bit of additional information eg. whether you got a single trip or annual, cover for a cruise, worldwide, etc along with anything else that you think others would find helpful when they are researching that would be great.

Hi,
Following stage 4 stomach cancer treatment (Chemo - Op - Chemo) I managed to get annual multi trip insurance from Avanti for myself and my wife for about £800 which educed to £550 when I renewed it. Sadly when I was recently diagnosed with secondary/terminal cancer they said they could not insure me despite that I am currently fully able and largely without symptoms. This suggest they will insure unless you have a terminal prognosis.
Yep, my experience has been the same, with my stage 4/terminal breast and bone cancer. I can get single trip insurance, but no one will I've me an annual policy. The insurance I've used was expensive, but Need to have it cos you're so much more likely to get ill when travelling. Frustrating.
Hi MandaPanda,
Can you share which company covered you for single trip?
Les
AllClear was the only company which would offer me travel insurance in early 2025. This was for a 7 day single trip to Europe. I was undergoing investigation for a non-cancerous health condition and didn’t have a diagnosis at that point. I also have a number of chronic health conditions. My cancer is in remission. AllClear were superb. It was a ling process to find out if they would offer cover, but the decision was fast and the customer advisor was so knowledgeable about health. Don’t apply online, phone them if your situation is complex regarding health, it can’t hurt.
I had an annual policy for myself and husband wwith All Clear; when my medical details changed and I needed further treatment (deinitely not a terminal diagnosis) they refused to insure me any longer and removed me from the policy, initially without any refund (although they offered some refund after some shouting on my part).
Just want to say thank you for highlighting this company (Albert and Eddie). I have stage 4 cancer of the oesophagus spread to lymph nodes and complete my chemo at the end of April (2025). I have a holiday to Italy booked at the beginning of May and was beginning to wonder if I would be able to get insurance. However, after a call with the company I got a quote that I was happy with (closer to £220 than the £1000 I had been quoted elsewhere) and now I am insured. I'm new to this but it seems it is definitely worth shopping around and definitely worth talking to the company rather than relying on online questionnaires (I managed to iron out quite a few queries, which I think helped my quote). Hope all manage to get insurance and get the holiday you deserve.
