Hi everyone,
The lovely @latchbrook set up the original 'recommended travel insurance thread' which you can still view here. Just so you don't have to go through the different pages of information to find recent recommendations, you can find the most recent experiences in this thread.
Please note, all recommendations are from Community members and are not recommendations from Macmillan. Please do your own research as to whether the companies are suitable for you.
This thread can be used to update the group when you've found an insurance company that provided you with cover at a reasonable cost from a recommendation you found here or elsewhere.
If you could put a little bit of additional information eg. whether you got a single trip or annual, cover for a cruise, worldwide, etc along with anything else that you think others would find helpful when they are researching that would be great.
You may also find Macmillan's 'Cancer and buying travel insurance' page to be helpful
Try Insurewith - I have secondary breast cancer and on immunotherapy treatment they have covered me for a 5 day cruise to Amsterdam next year for £83 - others quoted over £500 . They do ask alot of questions but at least you know that they have every bit of info about you. Good luck x
Hello KateH,
You could also try Holidaysafe, they are part of the same group as Insurancewith.
I used comparison site albert&eddie (strange name I know) which is also part of the same group as the above and received quotes from these plus a couple of others. In my circumstances Holidaysafe was cheaper than Insurancewith and both had the same policy wordings.

I am just trying to sort insurance for a trip to see my son and family in Australia, accompanied by my daughter. I thought I should do this before booking the flights. I have used insurancewith in the past so tried them again. I got a quote of £1130 which seemed rather high to me. I have a minor cancer on my kidney that the medics are not at all concerned about as it is stable and they will stop monitoring after my next visit if it has not grown. The screening questions don't really show how minor it is so I think the premium is higher because of this. I also have other non-life threatening conditions - glaucoma, macular degeneration, vestibular disfunction, peripheral neuropathy etc. On a previous recommendation on this thread I have just tried "medical travel compared". The cheapest quote through them was £1490 with "good to go" with only £2k cancellation, which is no good for a trip to Australia so I think I will have to stick with insurancewith .
Hi All
Having been hit by the pitfalls of travel insurance with cancer, I am one of the many enthused by Insurance With and their openness to medical conditions and decent cost. I wasn't worried when we booked a road cycling holiday around Lake Constance. I think I did test the insurance, too!
To cut a long story short I was only able to add "Cycling - excluding mountain biking and cycle touring". They regarded my cycle holiday as a tour, because I was cycling daily and moving-on, even though I wasn't self sufficient because we had luggage transfer. Self-sufficiency was included in the insurance company's definition of a tour. Humm! Win on the cancer, lose on the activity!
I was able to get a quote from Avanti including the cancer and the cycling for c£260. Insurance With were £85 including a welcome discount. I also tried LV and they offered me £60 excluding cover for pre-existing medical conditions. This suits my cancer, so I'm booked.
I would snap it up ! I’ve done a couple of searches and the cheapest I’ve got is 4k. We are both mid 70’s Husband has Myaloma ( in remission) and glaucoma ) I have hypertension and dry macular degeneration. This was for worldwide with cruise.
Insure with seem good - I’m awaiting the results of a breast biopsy as they found some tissue on the MRI they weren’t happy with. I’m hoping I can get the results before I go away as they mentioned that unknown outcomes would make the insurance costly.
if you are planning to insure with them, be prepared as they are very thorough and wanted to know lots of medical information and data - my oncologist printed something off for me.
