Hi All,
I had an SCC removed last month from my cheek it was largish now the Dr said it might be worth getting radiotherapy as ba back up although he did say they had cut all the cancer out and that it was intermediate i.e. not high risk or low risk of it coming back but in the middle.
Im truly worried after reading about the therapy and dont know what to do so any help or experiences would help me a lot as Im so worried.
Thanks
Hi and a very warm welcome to the online community
I'm sorry to read that you had to have a SCC removed from your cheek last month but it's good news that it's all been removed.
Having to make treatment choices can be difficult so can I recommend that you join us over in the skin cancer group where you can ask questions, share experiences and get support. I know that there is currently someone having radiotherapy to remove a BCC and I'm sure they'll be happy to tell you about their experiences.
If you'd like to do this just click on the link I've created and then choose 'click to join' or 'join' (depending on the device you're using) on the page that opens. You can then introduce yourself and post your question in the same way as you posted here and join in with existing conversations by clicking on 'reply'.
Once you've joined if you click on the group's welcome message you'll see a link to a leaflet from BAD (British Association of Dermatologists) about radiotherapy and it's use with skin cancer. Of course your consultant may have already given you this.
When you have a minute, it would be great if you could pop something about your journey so far into your profile as it really helps others when answering or looking for someone with a similar diagnosis. It also means that you don't have to keep repeating yourself. To do this click on your username and then select 'Profile'. You can amend it at any time and if you're not sure what to write you can take a look at mine by clicking on my username.
If you have any difficulty navigating the community just drop me a reply and I'll be pleased to help.
