Hi all wow what a shock that was to be told I have low grade (stage 2) follicular lymphoma. I went into A&E with a suspected appendicitis. After scans, and a laporoscopy which removed lymph nodes I was given the news 3 weeks ago. I am shocked because I don't feel unwell I am 50 in March, I cycle and run and try to look after myself, I don't smoke. I am currently on active monitoring so I am trying not to worry too much and just praying that it will be many years before I need any treatment. I don't know whether I am in denial because of how I am handling it and I just wonder if at some point I am going to lose it. My friends cannot understand how I am still running and cycling but why not if I can and feel well enough to. My thinking is, if I keep myself fit then when I do need treatment I will be fit and hopefully it will help me cope x
Hi and a warm welcome to the Macmillan Online Community but sorry that you needed to find us and I am especially sorry to hear about your FL diagnosis.
I was diagnosed with another type of low grade NHL in 1999 (see my profile) and it took 14 years before I had to have full on treatments.
