Hi everyone im new to this and just wanted to introduce myself. so everything happened so quickly it feels like a dream somtimes!!!

I felt unwell for a few months and just put it down to stress (like you do). Eventually went to my GP on the 31.12.21 as i was experiencing swelling on my neck and chest and i had a few burst blood vessels on my chest, she sent me straight to the hospital just be sure. l had an x-ray that wednesday afternoon which revieled i had a clouding on my chest. As i was not in any pain they sent me home to wait for an outpatient ct scan. By the sunday of that week i was really swollen and could not breath so i went back to hospital alone. Because of the swelling they did my ct scan that afternoon. I thought maybe i had covid or a chest infection. By six o,clock that evening they broke the devastating news that i had a mass on my right lung and they we 95% sure it was cancer!!!! What a true saying how your life can change in a second. They kept me in hospital for a week and i had a biopsy, 2 more ct scans a PET scan and one round of chemo by the following sunday. I have since had another round of chemo and i feel okay. Next week i find out if iam having radiotheraphy now or waiting till my chemo has finished. I am a fifty year old woman in two weeks time and my cancer is at stage three.

  • Hi  and a warm welcome to you as well.

The fear of ‘it’ coming back is hard to deal with in the early days but the further you go down the road you tend to develop a way of controlling the what if’s.

Do join our support groups as they are great places to talk with like minded people.

Hello Nicky, what you have described is almost identical to what happened to my husband at the end of November.....he ended up in hospital with SVCS, the major artery compression, blood vessels on his, chest etc. that you described and had the devastating Lung cancer stage 3 diagnosis. Hes just finished 3 rounds of combined chemo & immunotherapy, 4th immuno only on 9/2.....then potential preventative radiotherapy to chest & head to come, I thought my husband was young at 69, you must be in total shock, I know we are x

  • Hi Sue, lovely to hear from you.

Yes it was such a shock!!! im coming to terms with it all now, slowly. Its so strange as i thought i was a one off case but you are the second person now to say they had exactly the same symtoms.I feel for your husband as i was so scared when i couldnt breathe. so glad he is getting quick treatment and i hope all goes well for him. Im waiting to hear about starting radiotheraphy so fingers crossed i get the go ahead. Take care x
